Members UncleSam Posted December 4, 2021 Author Members Report Posted December 4, 2021 Mostly medium weight messenger bags and repairing stitching that I don't do by hand. If I need to repair something with harness leather (last year I made new covers for farm tractor doors with vinyl and plastic windows for my hay man. I used my friends heavy duty post machine for that. I can go down there (about an hour) and use her machines, just was thinking of winter driving/roads etc. I'm sure I can live without it, just sometimes gives my hand a rest from saddle stitching. Members MarlinDave Posted December 5, 2021 Members Report Posted December 5, 2021 Your motor plate says 2.8 amp. Might need to replace dryer circuit breaker with a 20 amp breaker. Quote

Members UncleSam Posted December 5, 2021 Author Members Report Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) Thank you for forwarding this. Unfortunately I don't speak German, so did translate to English which would help me better understand how this works I printed out all the pages which will be helpful, but it's mostly instructional; how to thread, tension, etc. I need the parts catalog for this model to see which timing belt is used. When I went back to available PDF downloads, the model 169 is not listed and there are 232 pages of parts, just for one model alone, so if anyone can help me decipher how to get to the next step, I'd be very grateful. Members UncleSam Posted December 5, 2021 Author Members Report Posted December 5, 2021 My thoughts exactly. So many variables, and since I've not heard back from the man who works on my Brother (usually once a year because after 18 years of him working on it, he taught me so much about the machine, he just does a tune up once every 12-18 months.) I really want his input, since he also services the other machines at the place where this one is. The man down the road from me gave me basically the same info re: costs and availability as you did. I am not one to chase unicorns, so a good used refurbished would be more of what I am looking for. US Quote
