Hi all, I'm trying to replicate the 'braid' in this collar - from what I can tell, its basically two layers of leather that are twisted together. However, when I do it, it gaps really bad between the two twists. Or is this a twisted type of bleed knot (slit braid)? Are there any tutorials for this type of twist/braid? Any tips out there to help the gapping? http://www.pawmark.c...hp?prod=LMC0000

Had a customer send back a bleed knot dog leash that her dog chewed in two. Is there any sort of magic repair I can do in this or is it a lost cause? Thanks, Mandy

How many of you teach classes in braiding? I'd sure like to start a discussion about that. About 20 times a year someone or other will contact me (usually by phone) and want me to teach them everything I know about braiding over the phone. Imagine me beating my head on my desk now. !! How can you teach someone to braid over the phone?! I do not possess this rare skill. And usually the person calling thinks I'm just being difficult. It's given me the idea of offering a braiding workshop. Maybe a three day class, they would stay at the local hotel and I'd be there so many hours a day to teach. Anyway if any of you teach, I'd love to talk about it... if you like you can PM…

Brading rawhide new experience. Not sure how thick strings should be. When cutting from rounds do you cut extra wide so you can split strings or do you not bother?

I am teaching a Four Strand Stock Whip Braiding class in Sheridan, WY this Friday at teh Rocky Mountain Leather Show. I have room for 6 people and only have three signed up at this time. Everyone will braid a complete whip as well as cut out one to take home with them. It is an 8 hour workshop and we will cover all parts of the whip braiding. I'll supply the Ron Edwards book Whip Braiding 1. I will also have four whip braiding stands there to use and will sell them if anyone is interested in one. I'll be in Sheridan from Wednesday evening until some time Sunday. Please say hi and introduce yourself if you see me there. Thanks

This is one of those monumental moments in my braiding skill set. As most braiders do, we try out things to see if that thing will work or not. I've been trying out different blades and such for years now. I just came across these shaving blades. The double edge platinum chrome blades used in those shavers from the old days. So I bought these blades and never tried them out. I thought to myself. These are paper thin and flimsy and wont do the job. Well my bad. They bevel the lace really damn smooth and crisp. I have never been able to cut my kangaroo lace but to a 1/16th width. Since trying these blades out, I have managed to cut 2 lengths of laces, just scrap pieces to …
