Hi folks, I decided that Leather crafting and carving would be another thing that I could enjoy and the perfect opportunity arose when I made myself a new whittling knife (my first ever knife too - done all by hand, no power tools apart from the loan of a use of a pillar drill).. I got myself a leather stitching kit which looks fairly reasonable and a leather carving kit from Tandy's to see if I would feel confident enough to decorate the sheath that I want to make, for the sheath materials I bought a belly of 8-10oz tooling leather. Hello, Newb reading Leathercraft Tools by Al Stohlman and find a description of how to make a push/pull beveller based on a Craftool 8970 Smooth Beveller. Tandy has a chart that suggests approximates, but I haven’t the experience to be able to discern the most appropriate substitute. Any chance someone reading has either tried to construct this tool or has the 8970 and might be willing/able to compare it to a more modern stamp and suggest a compatible replacement to be used in the construction of this tool? Thank you kindly for your time and consideration. Fare …

Hey, I recently bought a BUNCH of old machinery and supplies from a local (mom+pop leather company that closed doors 25+ years ago) He threw in these rusty stamps that I've managed to rejuvinate, and I was wondering if I could get direction on the best way to sell them/if there is anything rare/valuable in here? Is it better for me to sell singularily or as a lot? What is the approx values I'm looking at. I attached a bunch of photos. The stamped on leather are just the ones I've cleaned. Also, A few of the stamps were gold-anodized. I tried cleaning them the same way (rust remover) as I did with all of the chrome tools, but it seems to have taken off the gold coating…

I don't have a set of alphabet stamps and need to put a name on a dog collar. The letters will be 5/8 to 3/4 inches (16-19 mm). I was going to print the name, then trace and carve it. Any suggestions on a font that would be easy to carve and look good. Thanks, Randy
