I am hoping to get some thoughts and maybe an explanation or two on the best leather for lining brest collars and cinches and such. I have tried different things with decent results and I really like horse leather for this. I have seen some swear by horse leather for this, but to be honest, I have never really gotten a good explanation of why one type leather is better than the other. Hopefully some of you more experienced saddle and tach makers can help explain the reasoning better. Thanks for your input

Hello All, Thought I would share a couple of photos of the shooter's saddlebags I recently completed. The pattern is by Will Ghormley. I did not attempt the tooling or stamping on this one. I wanted to become familiar with the process and get better at tooling before attempting to do anything fancy. I also only added the one holster on one side. Will does a great job with his patterns and I have been impressed with each pattern I have bought by him. I used Al Stohlman brand buckles for this set from Tandy. I also used the white waxed linen thread. The leather used was not premium, so there is a lot of knap on some parts. I did not care though as it was a practice run. I …

This is a prototype for a bronc halter I glued a clear plastic cover on the inside of the top piece of leather stitched and glued the back on. I left a small slot in the bottom to slip a picture in, it’s held in place with the small star concho. Doug

Hi all, Just got my rein rounder down and want to do a rolled bridle. Anyone got approximate measurments on the width of the strap and sewing line for finished diameter size. I know they are approximate as it depends on oz of leather used and how much you thin it where you roll it, but just wanted a ball park on where to start. If not, I guess it is time to play with scraps and experiment...

This is my first submission. I needed a tablet case so I used the saddle bag pattern. (Half of saddle bag) It took me some time but it worked out just fine for me. I can at least say it is one of a kind. And it also holds some extras. sORRY GUYS AND DOLLS, NO PICTURES YET, THEY ARE TOO BIG TO UPLOAD WILL HAVE TO ADJUST.

Howdy; I just received an email from Jeremiah Watt about his new bucking roll system that I mentioned in another post. here is what JW had to say and a photo. I will be tying these out for sure, something I will not miss is stuffing buck rolls "Just a quick note to all of you who work so hard at making better saddles each day, to fitting more horses and more riders with each passing day. We just wanted to let you know that we have taken some of the labour out of making Buck Rolls. These new Foam inserts feel like sheepskin or hair pack Buckrolls, but with 1/4 the time to make. And best of all, they do not pack down and are perfect everytime. So now maybe we can incre…

Here's the next order done. These are just pretty simple basket stamped corners to be given as awards at an invitational team roping. The most difficult part of the project was sewing them onto the Navajo blankets. Anyway, have a look and let me know what you think of 'em. Stay blessed.
