To my eye it looks great! What are you doing different?

I am trying to sand then dye the sand then dye, multiple times. After, I am just using water to burnish, followed by multiple coats of beeswax.

Previously, I was sanding, burnishing with gum trag, burnishing with cloth, sticks, anything that everyone was suggesting.

The current method seems to make a smooth edge, even if it isn't glassy. Not sure how to get the glassy part yet, I'll keep at it.

All of this because I am trying to avoid using edge coat, because I don't want it to wear off with heavy use.

Im not the expert on finishes, but I think the glassy look is typically achieved by using a high gloss sealer.

What you are doing looks good enough and durable to me.

Thank you.  I just used leather, as outlined in one of Stohlman's making leather cases books.  Constructed it flat, then wet molded it to the curve as seen.  Been a year since I made that one, I'll have to do another and see how much my skills have improved since then!
