    Can't wait to this finished!
  2. Ah, it ain't no big deal. I throw out the girls bike alot to people that decide to talk to me about bikes out in public. I throw that in and it's funny to see how they react, you tell the hesitation in wanting to agree with me (I suppose either out of politness or fear lol). The sad part is, 9 outta 10 times they don't know jack about bikes. I did get asked about an hour ago by some random guy at the gas station if it was a 750... A buddy of mine has a 72 I think it's an flt, don't know to be honost. True rat bike, unlike the overnight rat jobs this bike is truely "road rusted". If you keep up with magizines (which I don't...I don't even know how to spell it LOL) you've probably seen it before as he used to (and may submit some still) write and do photography for several of them. Lives down the road from me, if anyone has ever deserved the term biker it is this guy. This bike has been all across the US several times. There is ALOT of miles of those cases (internals is all S&S) if seen the log book.
  3. Well, technically speaking... the motorcycle pic has lines.. !! Heck, I thought La Linea meant "the linea" which brought up the question, what the .... is a linea. Now I know. I feel intelygent. Not familiar with this cartoon, so to me the seat looks real good.
  4. Got a touch further. Trying so friggen hard to not wreck "lou's" face or at least wrecked no more than the others !!! No clue what so ever what Im gonna do backgrounding wise, though Im getting close to it. Soundtrack as continued to Danzig 1, 2 and 3. It sets the right mood for this... I miss the old line up so much! I threw my arm in for "scale". Now it just seems pointless that I did. :brainbleach:
  5. Awwww, that's so sweet. You ain't gotta lie, you made that for my sporster didn't you!
  6. ah maybe someone does like the dew more than I... if that were possible.
  7. Ha, well thanks. Im actually surprising myself abit so far. Luckily, I did those belts before hand and cut all those letters I seem a bit more confident with the swivel. Im using tools I've never touched, learned I like the figure bevelers the most.... though from looking through some catalogues I'd like to have some of the matting tools for this. I should be getting back on it tonight, tooling should be done maybe Friday. Then it will have to sit for a while. Got more of those belts to design and do. Then I can do the bottom....figure out the final finish color (im thinking black, natural and antique... ) Then I'll have to wait till I can buy the lace and such.... though Im kinda considering to just saddle stitch.
  8. Get started early. Take it out for several hours then make the template. That's my advice! When I did mine, if I remember correctly as it's been a year or so... I picked up some posterboard stuff and made the template from that. Made it real easy to design it to the bike. It should be real easy to come up with on to follow the hardtail on yours.
  9. Looks good, now you can start that bag for your bike you spoke of wanting to do.
  10. Well I said I would post progress regardless how bad.... The passing storms, danzig 4 were the soundtracks. har har.
  11. Never thought about making one.... HMMMMM how do you say... gears b rollin yo Have at times thought about getting one... but always found other ways to acheive what I wanted. About two years ago, there was a guy at the smoke out (1 or 2nd year in Rockingham used to be 2-3 miles from my house here in salisbury) there was a guy doing Larry style tanks. However, he held the uncut tank in his lap and used two hammers and shaped the dish that way. Both sides were pretty "darn" (im sure ill get fussed at for saying dang....) perfect. I was pretty impressed with that.
  12. haha! Not a slave. Company shut down almost two years ago. However, got a 10 month old I watch during the day. By the time she gets home.. Im a bit stir crazy and I burn up what little cash I got in the gas tank. Unless we have print work or some other payin gig.
  13. I've commited to the final design. Im pushing my luck and limits with it. 4 faces + limited tooling experience should prove to be a learning/frustrating experience. I did a test of the toughest face last night, though not perfect by anymeans, I kinda got a feel for what I should do in certain parts. We'll see. I won't be afraid to post updates regardless of the outcome. I truely have no shame. Including the test piece when I finish this will be roughly my 10th time carving a project. Hell I could go 35mph all day... but I'd rather go 100. Burned 3 tanks of gas today raising hell (no wonder Im broke.... ), gonna wrap up something I started last week and should be starting this tomorrow.
  14. Less talk..... more pictures... lol
  15. I like high risers myself. My last bike, I made the risers (9") and the z bars (4-5"). Bike is cool! If it happens to get to cold for you in the winter.. you could drop it off to me and I'll keep it warm Bikes are supposed to be dirty, who's got time to wash them and why? That's what the rain is for.
  16. Cool. Like to see it as well.
  17. Word. Sometime this weekend I may get started. Wasn't really over thinking it, just I could have seen it go both ways with the additional space and such. Fixing an intake leak right now.
  18. I've got something thinking to do yet. What Im gonna to attempt to tool, I shouldn't be trying. So Im gonna be doing some parts on scraps and see what Im gonna need to learn or figure out for certain area's. Gonna try not to bomb toooo big! Gotta practice the pear shader for sure, will need them, and I suck terribly using them the few times I've tried!!! This is all in the attempt to just go the F for it. Got what your saying about the leather. I think I mostly had a similar idea, as I was going to cut the top to come down and meet the sheet metal. Now for your knee trick, is that with foam or without? (the confusion comes from thinking of the foam compressing when lacing tight)
  19. Very cool. As for the bike, I can tell you it's not a sportster!!! LOL. Left side drive, rotor slightly visable on the right.
  20. Alright, first seat or at least first seat with foam. Made the pan, hammered against a acetlyne bottle cap. Two halves, 16g with a 1 1/2 x 3/16 brace inside up the middle. It ain't bending. Did it this way, not only out of boredom but that's how I wanted to do it. Hadn't messed with any real metal projects since the company I worked for shut down, so even if it sucks it was much needed. The foam is just from an old seat. Had to do what I had to do to make it work. Doing this on the cheap. May try to fill the spot or redo the nose....anyhow. Thickest part is about an inch or so, the shape is mostly in the top portion of the sheet metal and tried to get the foam cut down to match. Cannot stand thick foam, the harder the seat the better. Tooling wise, I wasn't going to do much of anything. But, I've got what I guess you could say is the "bug" from the recent belts I've been doing. However, I will be going WAY beyond my limited to non-existant skill level... all or nothing... I suppose you could say. Not 100% set on exactly what Im doing here yet... Either way Im sure I'll hate myself more when I do. Anyhow, the reason for putting this up: Not sure what to expect. I want (or at least think I want) to do the leather in two pieces, top and bottom. I'll be using 6-7oz I think it is. If I do the two peice deal, will the top peace lay against the curve I have in the foam or am I setting myself up for failure here? Haven't decided on what lacing to do yet, open to suggestions on what may be best for the pan. Would like to to try the round braid... not sure if that will work ok or not to be honest with this. I probably will not be using kangaroo.... Anyhow, heres the pan. I may mess with the foam more (it could be better I know) .... I suppose that depends on how bored I become before it's said and done!
  21. No problem with skulls, the coolest bone in the body.
  22. Agreed to both above. Got's plenty more that could be said.... but I don't think any of us couldn't say something the other ain't thinking. American Ironhorse for life! LOL.
  23. Yeup. To many people that are good at what they do and work hard and recieve nothing of value in return, while some lazy pig in a suit rakes in all the cash sitting on his worthless .... butt. Trade and barter is where we should be instead of enslaved meaningless peasents handed a coin will being threatened to work faster. Honostly, Chancey summed up my thoughts in a post not to long ago though it was a non-related topic. The rich would not be so rich, and the day of inferior products you slaved for would be over. It's pretty sad, at least out here at the moment. You can get paid more for running a press break than tig welding. I suppose we got a bit off topic of the thread a little!
