  1. Thanks Art, I was falling in love with the lubertos, But I am having a hard time with the price. I saw the 6/6, and thinking that the ferdco was a good machine in general that the 6/6 would be a fair substitute for the Classic. If thats not the case! I've seen recomendations for the Toro 3000 and other 441 clones and 205 clones, is that basically the only way to go as far as heavy stitchers? Where would you put your money Art? I love the adjustible foot on the lubertos... they sound like a great machine but 7k... -Andrew
  2. I was wondering if anyone out there has used the Ferdco #6/6 ... I Saw the posts about the Lubertos and the ASE #9... I was just wondering where the #6/6 fell in on that discusion as far as likes and dislikes... -Andrew
  3. Where do you get your linen? I've bought some from Tandy then I found the same exact linen waxed in the craft section a walmark! I know you can get linen from beilers and I have a HUGE spool of white and black. Always up to try new stuff -Andrew
  4. My buddy is an upolsterer and I usually snag the cord from him. I make my own piping for patant work when I am making a gig saddle. I've even used wire when in a pinch to finish off some piping, it worked well! -Andrew
  5. I've had good luck with Triple C in KY for bridle leather. Fast shipping, good price, No complaints here!
  6. Hey I was wondering what everyone thought of the tippmenn aerostitch? I have seen a few out there in cyberspaced and just wondered if people were using them? What applications, and I was wondering if they were happy with this machine? Looking forward to the feedback! -Andrew
  7. wow that really is an insaine knife! i worked at a high end flooring manifacturer, and we delt with all types of exotic woods. I really like that handle! I made a couple edge slickers from wenge and one from ipe. I really like that knife the more I look at it!
  8. Oh I was excited when i saw this and thought I might get a chance to jump in! Weaver still sells them and so does Beilers. I know if you are cutting a crown piece for a bridle and you set a strap cutter or draw guage to cut in 5/8 for a show bridle with a 1 1/8" crown when you go to cut the other side you will cut the wrong size in the wrong order... trust me I made the mistake one time when I was chatting with my farrier and looked like a fool after I spent 15 mins lining the crown piece with patant and sewing on the winker stay buckle and the top piece for the over check I realized what I did. On a lot of the show bridles they will do a 5/8 check for box loops and 1/2 for the throat latch.
  9. I can't beleive that Austraila has a knife law! Look Crocodile Dundee had the most massive bowie knife ever! I carry a knife as a tool. Granted its usually just a pocket knife or a leathermen (he he). I don't carry a gun, but I have wanted to make a holster for my 1911... and Mike Phelps seems to have a pretty nice one in his profile picture!
