Best stitches per inch and thread size for wallet makeing
Don Ayres posted a topic in Sewing Leather
Ive always been jealous of some of my wallet making conterparts on how neat there saddle stitching looks, ( Like the wallet pictured below) Was wondering if anyone can recomend a good pricking iron or chisel, including how many stitches per inch would look best, a good quality thread including thread size, and a good harness needle including the size that would best match that thread. Thank you very much, any advice is greatly appreciated -

Does anyone know what happened to the Kingsmere Crafts website ???

Thanks Hedge ill look into getting that book, and also thanks to millwright, i do have Bruce Grants Encyclopedia, didnt know herringbone braid was in there, do you know what page its on ?

Hello all, was wondering if anyone could give me a hand in learning the herringbone braid, ive seen this pattern in other members work and think i looks pretty nice for a bracelet, im interested in making it primarily in 6 and 8 strands, im not even sure if it can be done in 4 strands but i may be wrong, If you know a you tube video or any other resource that can point me in the right direction id appreciate it. Thank You D.A.

You all have helped me personally to understand the 4 and 6 strand braiding process by reading these post, i myself am ready to move on to the 8 strand braid w/ a core. This group has been a wonderful resource for me and now im making bracelets and necklaces as gifts for friends and family out the wazoo !!! Thanks to all D.A.

Thanks KnotHead for the link to the www.gets.com web site, they seem like a reputable company, just a couple questions: Do you have to purchase from them in bulk or can you just buy individual pieces ? How long does shipping usually take to the US ? Also i have my fathers ashes and would like to put some in a similar style pendant, did you purchase the pendant from the same company. Thanks Again Don

For some reason this is what 25b just sent me in a personal conversation: To Don Ayres, 25b has sent you a new personal conversation entitled "I considered replying to your post about your cross...". 25b said: ====================================================================== ...but since you pretty much ignored all my suggestions in your original thread, I've decided that it's not worth my time to try to help you anymore...so I'm not going to do so. There are things you should be doing that would improve your work. Maybe someone else will take the time to tell you what those are, so good luck with that. ====================================================================== PLEASE DO NOT REPLY DIRECTLY TO THIS EMAIL! You can reply to this personal conversation by following the link below: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=members&module=messaging§ion=view&do=showConversation&topicID=60421#msg116897 I dont understand the hostility ???

Thanks to everyone that answered, and 25b whats with the hostility, ??? I posted this topic because i am still struggling to make this bracelet even though i had basically asked this question before, just relax, were all here to learn and help one another, and not to pick and say i already answered this question or where a thread belongs, i will keep trying to make this bracelet, but if i am still having trouble i may ask for more help and dont want to feel intimidated.

Ive done that. But would like a little more help with this, but thanks for your reply.

Im new to the braiding world but am getting pretty good at it, ive made a few 6 strands braclets with glue-in clasp at the ends and have given them away as gifts to my 4 children, but i aspire to make a bracelet in 6 strands like the one pictured, except with the simple 6 strand braiding pattern, can anyone give me some good advice from starting the loop, to picking a good nice looking but simple end knot, pictures and videos help me the best, im more of a gotta see it type person. Thanks a bunch, braiding is awesome and it keeps me outta trouble, lol Don A.
