  3. This particular knot is used for a foundation knot and then is covered by another knot that would be the final knot. B...
  4. As far as videos go. I would not be able to give any type of accurate info on that. I have not seen any videos done on this subject yet. Maybe someone else knows of some videos done on this. B...
  5. There is a lot of room with these types of braids to experiment with and see if you can find your own touch to it. I know that Ron Edwards has a couple more fast back edge braids out, like the 1 to 5, 1 to 8, 1 to 9 and so on. But I have not seen any of those yet. I am searching for them though. ehehehe... I spotted in one of my Argentine books an edge braid that took on the gaucho look in two colors. That one will be really neat to do. I am going to move on to the 2 and 3 string versions of these braids to see what I can come up with myself. These are fun to do. But really annoying to take apart when you need to correct a mistake. That would be the only down side to this style of braiding. I sure would like to see a photo of those reins. Maybe I can help identify the braid. B...
  6. I got all my instructions from the book Braided Borders by Enrique Capone. The book costs $42.00 and is worth the price for sure. Here's the link to the book, Briaded Borders - Enrique Capone I've never done the mexican round braid as far as a braided border goes. So this pattern uses the over 2, under 2 pattern when you get to that point in the braid. The span is a hole 1 to hole 7. So it does span a longer distance and gives my better coverage and looks fuller when done. This pattern of course takes on that look of the herringbone type braid. Hope that helps a bit. Feel free to ask anymore questions. B....

  15. - thin 1 oz garment leather - (You will need to use something to stabilize the borders for slits and holes both). - very soft , __stretcheable__ and pliable leather like 3-4 oz deerskin - ( Same with this one )... I don't like using this hide for braided boarders. But it can be done, just not to my liking. - semi-thick 4 oz veg tan - Excellent for slits and holes. - heavy 10-12 oz veg tan - Same with this one. The results you got were from you pulling to tight and then the holes will elongate themselves as you describe. B...

    A Belt.

I wont know about the wearing in part until I have it done and my Pastor has it around his waste. Then I'll check on it in 6 months to see where it is and how it is wearing in. I still have side two to do yet. But it's getting there. It's not a modified basket weave, or the mexican basket weave. It's a 1 to 7 Fast Back Edge braid modified from Ron Edwards original 1 to 8 with compressed ending of a 1 to 5 that I got from my friend Enrique Capone. My braiding mentor wrote the article on the 1 to 7 in the whip makers association publication about a couple of years ago. I got one of the original prints from my mentor. B...

You'll need to know the turks head first. Thanks for the very kind comment also. B...
