I have a funny feeling that the weave is called a mystery braid. U-tube has a video on it.

I watched Alligator Bob from Antioch, Ill. do a seat when I worked for him. He foams the seat then he black marks the the way he wants the seat to look. He then cuts out pieces of fabric to follow the black marks he made. Then I took his sample cuts and traced them on the leather allowing for a 3/16 stitch. Most of the time predicated on if he was going to use an exotic skin he had three to four sample pieces to cut out of the leather to make the seat. If, you go to his web site alligatorbob.com. you will see the seats he makes. I hope this helps!

I guess I'll have to respond. I make a lot of custom halters and I have found that the simple way to sew the chape using a 5705 buckle is to run the chape thru the machine without any thread or buckle. Then install the buckle, glue the piece together and hand stitch. When doing this I always cross over the sides at the top of the buckle. This keeps the buckle from sliding or moving which causes wear. I have a pro 2000 harness stitcher from Fredco. I have been talking to Ron is son about a harness buckle foot. He said he has one in the works and will send when they come in. In the meantime I'll keep hand stitching the chapes.

Thank you Bob. Will call on Friday.

Thank you for the response. I did that and they only had a parts and repair manual that would be used by a service technician. What I need is someone who may have this machine and would be willing to copy the operator's manual which I would be more than happy to reimburse them for their effort.

Looking for a operator's manual for a Adler 220-76-73. Hope someone can help me in this regard. Thank you in advance. Morrie

How Do I Fix The Stitching On My Machine?
longtooth replied to withsilverbells's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
This happens when I put a different color in the machine and I don't make sure that the thread is between the tension plates at the top. I'll bet when you look at the threading you will find this to be the case. -
I have a Singer 144 long neck for sale with a table and motor. It's 20" deep. I have used it for sewing heavy blankets and nylon. I'm on the Ill. Wisc. border. I'm upgrading to a 30" to make life easier. Also, the machine doesn't have a reverse and one cannot be put on it. The price I'm asking is 950.00.

I just purchased the above machine and was wondering if anyone knows of a place I can purchase a manual for this machine. Thank you, Morrie

Well still on a mission to find a machine to do my heavy blankets and replace my Singer 144 20" long neck that doesn't have a reverse and the one model a reverse can't be put on. My luck. The above machine does have a reverse and it comes with the table but no motor. Would appreciate some feed back if anyone knows about this machine. It looks like a copy of my Singer. Thank you in advance.

Not sure on the application. I do believe he used it to sew canvas.

Hi Anne, I only repair rugs (horse blankets) that have been cleaned. I need the longer head space so I can maneuver the blanket and keep sewing. I'm planning on converting the head to a single needle.

I do a lot of horse blankets and have the opportunity to purchase the above machine. It's a 30" and the man selling it says it reverses by using the foot pedal. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cowboy Mounted Shooting Holsters - Need A Little Imput
longtooth replied to mustangsallyoo13's topic in How Do I Do That?
I will try and explain this so it won't be to confusing. You have to put in a site lock. This is a ramped piece of leather that is sewn in the holster. What i do is take a thick piece of leather and cut it just under a half inch in width. the length would be determined by the length of the barrel. I glue it and sew it in the holster. I then take the gun and keep trying to remove it without to much friction. When putting the gun in the holster you will hear a click. The gun with not fall out until you pull it out. -
Looks like a pineapple knot to me.

Has anyone used a Kydex liner in their holsters. I have been using sheet metal but this Kydex looks interesting. The problem is can you cover it with leather then form it?? Appreciate any feed back

I have for sale a right foot, left foot, center toe and a double foot that I bought from Mast harness when they were in business. Will sell the four items for 100.00 dollars. These feet will get you close to the 5705 buckle. Thank you.
