  1. Looking for a good finishing product to put on after dyeing. Thank you in advance.
  2. I did also, and just got a email about it being shipped. Can't wait. Ordered a H&K USP.
  3. Looking for a replacement for Frieblings. Not happy with the finish. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
  4. Denise, You are correct two skirts with sheepskin sewn to each one. If the sheepskin is coming away from the skirt closest to the gullet I probably would pull that skirt off and correct accordingly. When you take the skirt off watch for nails in the area the sheepskin is coming loose. Usually that's the area that is nailed to the tree.
  5. Shooter, Thank you again. Can't wait to make one will post when it's completed.
  6. Thanks to all for the replys.. Shooter it's a HK USP 45. Sorry should have posted that.
  7. Was wondering if anyone knows of a place to purchase a pattern for pancake holster or similar that would fit a a H&K 45 I have. I mainly make cowboy action shooting holsters but would like to try and make one of these for my personal gun. Thanks in advance.
  8. Wasn't sure on the terminology. Slow on the uptake. Enclosed you will see what i do. TY again Katass, If you look at the post I show the filler piece I use to stiffen the holsters. Also, you will see the two chicago screws holding the skirt. Thank you, for your reply.
  9. I take a 1 inch piece of brass stock and solder two chgo. screws to it and insert it between the two pieces of leather. I do this even if I band the holster.
  10. Renegade, Thank you for the response but not sure what you mean on a welt along the main seam?
  11. I sold the holsters I shoot cowboy with and needed to make a new pair. This is the design I came up with. The inserts are Real Alligator. Hope you like. Comments graciously accepted.
  12. Thank you for the reply's. I have rebuilt the bobbin winder but not satisfied with using the machine winder.
  13. Want to make or purchase a external bobbin winder for the above machine. I have a external winder for my other machines but the 2000 bobbin won't fit on the shaft. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  14. The cost to do the seat would be about 750 dollars. The hide for the seat and the side jockeys are very expensive. English bridle leather from England will make you gasp. I wonder who was chewing on the cantle? Some jobs are better left alone.
  15. Have this machine for sale. Has a new table and brand new motor. I live on the border of Ill. and Wisc. Selling price 950.00.
  16. Cantle pieces do not have the proper curve to make a nice fitting ear piece. Go to Montana Silversmiths web site and see the curve you need. As far as the leather is concerned I always cut my ear pieces on the bias. The fit is much better.
  17. I make holsters and gun belts for Cowboy Action Shooters and like to line my holsters and gun belts with 2 to 3 ounce veg tan Water Buffalo. Not having a lot of success finding a supplier. Springfield Leather had some awhile ago and a bought what they had. Anybody know of a supplier would appreciate the information. Thank you in advance.
  18. I'm left hand dominant. So I had Danny Marlin make me a grove cutter and a skiver to be used with my left hand. I, also turned the jaws around on my stitching pony. One other point I have been hit in the right arm numerous time shooting the M1 Garand. With a little practice I was able to put my arm in a position that the shells just missed me. Love being left handed and left eye dominant.
  19. I found that using cut up felt buffing pads work well for me. I use a great black dye that I get from Angelus shoe polishing co. It's called Military. They said this month they will be offering it in brown also. Fingers crossed.
  20. Johanne, Try Chupps in Ill. or Hillside ( I think they are on the east coast). I use a lot of stainless and they have a great selection. The rounded bottom is the kicker. Haven't seen those that I can recall.
  21. Have the opportunity to purchase a Randall creaser. The problem is it's not assembled. I'm guaranteed that all the parts to put together are in the box. It's an old one about twelve inches long and creases numerous sizes of leather. My question is it difficult to put together. I'm pretty handy but looking at this in the box is a little intimidating.
  22. This is the place that sometimes it's happens and then sometimes it doesn't. Laughing
  23. I have a swivel knife blade that cuts two lines at the same time. The example sure looks like what my tool will do.
  24. I use the long ruler suggestion. The only thing I do is clamp the ends of the ruler. A sharp utility knife and take your time.
