  1. The adage, "You get what you pay for" is so true with leather tools.
  2. I better sell some work so that I can support my tool habit.
  3. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for your input. It really helps to have folks who know their stuff, share their experience in these matters. I'm glad I didn't order those. I've been eyeballing some of Wuta's tools. Their pricking irons look fairly decent and the price is nice. Thanks.
  4. I ended up ordering a set of the Watt quick change edgers after watching Nigel Armitage give them a rave review on Youtube. So far, I'm pretty happy with them.
  5. Yeah, that's my experience with stainless as well. Thanks.
  6. I’m wondering if anybody has tried out the edge bevelers made by Johnleather in China. The price is ridiculously low at about $10 per edger. They look good but I’m concerned about the steel they use. They make them in 316L stainless, which is a low carbon steel. If you’ve tried them out, how good of an edge can you get , and how long does it hold? I love the narrow profile but my wallet doesn’t want to let go of $60+ for a brand that I know will be high quality. Should I pass these up and save for a better brand? Here’s a link to their eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283039884275
  7. Thanks, Big Sioux. That's what I figured. A shame since Weaver tries to position themselves as a bit upscale.
  8. I've been looking into getting some diamond stitching chisels and came across Weaver's brand of chisels. They are really cheap compared to many other brands that are known to be of good quality. Around $20 for a set of 4 irons, which makes me worry that the tines will snap as soon as I try to use them. Should I just get a slightly more expensive set like the Seiwa? If you have any experience with the Weaver irons, please let me know your thoughts.
  9. Hi all, I am selling my Tippmann Boss on ebay. It's been only slightly used (only for about a dozen projects or so) and works very well. It's in excellent condition and comes with the accessories kit. I'm also throwing in a dual, led gooseneck light that you can see is attached with a zip tie. I paid over $1800 for everything ($1495 for Boss, $299 for accessories + taxes, s/h). Selling everything for $1600. Shipping is calculated on checkout. Only selling within the U.S. If you want to take a look you can follow this link: http://goo.gl/k2i7b8

    Calfskin Liners?

I've been hunting around for some affordable calfskin lining leather. Anybody know a good supplier that won't kill my wallet?
  13. I've been looking around online for some good instructional material for decorative hand stitching. I've come across a few things but i'm sure there is more out there. What have you guys found? Here are the some of the vids I've dug up: and this useful instructional workbook: http://www.bighoused...d_stitching.htm I'm sure there's more out there. What have you guys got? Please post your findings in this thread. Thanks guys And these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-W-M_KxpmQ and these too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4enn4QN8zYQ&feature=related
