  1. I want to make one like this for my X. I need details Spinner. My email is woodspinner at sbcglobal dot net if you so choose to email me.
  2. Beautiful work as always Spinner..!!!!! Too bad you don't live closer to me so you could "teach me the ropes" on tank bibs. All I have to say is......
  3. billio8, You're going to need someone more experienced that me. I'm too new at this to even try and give you an answer. Maybe someone will jump in here and give you an answer.
  4. Thanks Bobby, I'll go check out those links. Much appreciated.
  5. Looks really good Sawyer.!!!! Thanks for the post.
  6. Good info right here.!!!!! You see, this is the kind of info any new dude would need to know when starting out making his own stuff for his bike(s) and others. This is the kind of info that makes a thread (IMHO) really useful.
  7. I love it.!!! I would love to make one like that for my VTX.!!!! My only change would be to take the leather all the way to the front of the speedo housing. On most VTX'x, the speedo housing vibrates from the engine vibs causing the housing to 'rattle". My idea is to bring the bib all the way to the front and make it slightly thicker at the front to provide a "pad" for the housing so to help cut down or out the rattle noise. Hey Chris.....how'd you make the pattern for this tank bib? I need to make one for my bike and I'm so new at all this that I'll have to make a pattern to go by first.
  8. I'm wanting to make a nice tank bib for my VTX1300C as well as a windshield bag for it. I appreciate the offer of assistance Spinner. I am hoping to do some stuff over the winter (even though I continue to ride in the winter months as long as the roads are good) and have it all ready to look really good or at least better come spring ride time. BTW, do you know where I can get some of those metal parts for a windshield bag? I have a ws bag on my 750 Shadow and it has a metal square with a hole in it and two "shoulders" on it that fit over the metal strip across the inside of the ws....and I'd like to find some of those for making my own ws bag.
  9. Thanks Chris.!! Much appreciated. I like your work and it all looks good. I just hope I can do that well for my own bike needs/wants soon.
  10. I'm trying to get a grasp on what weight leather to use for various applications. I ride motorcycle and want to make stuff for my bike. Tank Bib Leather fringe lever covers Windshield bag Saddlebags So whadya say.....will someone please give me a few pointers here on what they use?
  11. Very nice work spinner..!!!! I like it.!!!!
  12. Molto Bene Billio8.!!!!!!! (did I say that right?) I spent 4 years in Italy and really liked it there. Been through Venezia as well as Roma, Pisa, Livorno, and Napoli. Bel Lavoro.!!!! Chow.
  13. I use my Tormek to put an edge on my tools through about 1,000 grit. Used it on my swivel knife for the initial edge and took about 20 seconds to get it nice and sharp. Rouge and some cardboard got it really nice and sharp in about a minute. Take your time when learning to sharpen. It's not a race your are looking to win....it's an edge that cuts cleanly and smoothly and I haven't seen an edge yet that is in a hurry.
  14. while some others have replied....I'm so new that I squeak. At least you have tools and leather to work with. My daughter has already tooled up all the leather projects we bought and now I'm out of money and leather. The price we pay to be a dad. I think you stuff looks good, but just that your stamping needs to be a bit deeper to make that images more clear....I guess that's what I'm saying.
  15. Kevin, I am a biker and I am a Patriot Guard Rider. Please allow me to sit here and type: I have a good friend that was diagnosed with ALS just 2 years ago. All I can say is that my heart goes out to you on the loss of your dad. I pray that through my thoughts and prayers that I can bring both honor and respect to you, your dad, and your family. Beautiful work for a most awesome dad. I'm loosing my dad to a very rare cancer that they can't cure.
  16. Nice work BillyMac..!!!! Mighty fine seat you done up there. I'd be proud to put it on my bike.....but I'm not a solo seat type rider.
  17. Max, Sounds like an interesting finish you have come up with. Would you mind sharing what it is? I'd like to try it on my own motorcycle seats. Please?
  18. You got talent David....that's for sure. Beautiful all the way around.!!!
  19. Beautiful seat..!!!! Awesome display of leather craft skill.!!
  20. Beautiful work Spinner..!!!!! Would you be so kind to share the weight of leather used and any dimensions? I'm new to leather stuff and spend most of my time reading and researching. I have a 1300 that I would love to make a tank bib for. Those side bags are totally AWESOME.! I can't wait to see the details on those so I can make me some.
  21. Nice leather work.....but I am partial to the bike the strap is laying on.
  22. Beautiful work Allen and I'd appreciate the leather thickness and dimensions that you used. I play bass guitar in our church praise band and I need a new strap. Thanks for posting.!!!
