Would need to get the details and then see if I could work out getting off both my jobs at the same time to be able to attend. If there are several from same area that want to car pool, maybe work-out with motel that would give discount prices if reserve so many rooms that might help with the cost. Just food for thought to make it to where hopefully more people could attend. Keep me informed. Thanks

Oh ya P. S. I have one of Bevans cutter/beveler and it works great. Now I just need to use the tool correctly, and learn how to braid and I'll be having fun.

I get my Roo from www.midwestwhips.com Paul Nolan and Lauren Wickline. They have been great help in answering questions and I tell them what I plan on trying to make with the hide and they send what they feel will work best.

I will agree with everyone else I like the looks of this braid. I think that could be a VERY good seller. Don't know if you go to craft shows or not but could make a few up and have pre-cut letters to put on them to personalize it for the buyer, Real nice.

Very Nice !!! I can't wait to give my first pair of reins a try. How many roo hides does it take to make a pair?? LOL my first two roo hides only made 1 pair of hobbles and so far a couple braclets, I've got alittle lace left but not a whole lot. Trial and ERROR with it being my first try cutting lace and I think I must have wasted alot or I'm way off on how much lace I thought you could get. So just wondering how many hides it took you so that I know I would need to order atleast double that. hehe. I greatly enjoy seeing your work, its artwork looking at it. Thanks Annette

Thanks all for your helpfull advice. HEHE I've only done the 6 bright 7 part knot so you all telling me to go another pass will teach me something new. Have watched the DVD of Marlinspike's Knot Works about 20 times to learn it. . Nope I don't have a splitter yet, I've been wanting one and have tried twice to make one but I didn't have any building plans to follow was just trying to look at what was out there on the internet and tried to build something like it. Both times my blade wouldn't hold, and one time when I would pull the lace through the blade would grab ahold of the lace and just cut it in half rather then shave alittle off. So thank you Roo for looking up the link to the splitter posted, and directions on how to make it. GREATLY APPRICIATED. !!! I'm game for giving making that one a try. I was scared to bevel the lace that I cut that the bi-colored braclet is made since its alittle under 1/8 inch. Can you still bevel lace that small?? I can see what you all are talking about with needing to bevel or do something different, I could see little backside frizzey's instead of it looking clean. To hopefully get better at cutting lace I've been watching off Knot Heads web site the video's on how to cut roo lace. I think I have been trying to go way to fast and not cutting the lace wide enough with the first cut so then when I stretch it and take it to my table cutter its already pretty narrow and I can't take very much off the sides which then makes it end up uneven. Plus I was cutting it as needed rather then cutting the whole thing at the same time (more good advice I got). This last time, Which I'm crying I cut up the last of my first two roo hides. I tried to take more time with the first cut, and alittle more wide so that when I went to the table cutter I could cut alittle off each side and that seemed to make it look more uniform. Well thanks again for the help. I'm glad that you pointed out the flaws to me.

Howdy all. I thought that I would show ya two of my latest to see if anyone is seeing any improvement or not. The multi-colored one I cut the roo lace myself. I tried to take advise giving from the hobbles that I braided and when cutting this lace tried real hard to get it the same size by cutting it all at once rather then as I needed it. The natural color one was Tandy roo. Remember I appriciate honesty so if ya see faults please don't be shy about telling me about them. I don't want to teach myself the wrong way thinking it was right, I would rather hear the negative and learn from it. I gave away the hobbles that I had made out of roo to a cowboy today. I'm hoping that they will be used and he will give me feedback to how they hold up. I took them into a horse tack shop today and he told me that they were to big, so I showed him how they can adjust to fit the horses legs. Then he told me that when adjusted that they would be to far apart. So I took them to a cowboy that does alot of riding checking cows and uses hobbles alot and gave them to him. When he looked at them he couldn't believe that the tack shop owner would say they wouldn't work, that he thought they were great. He didn't want to take them knowing how much work I put into them ect but I told him that they were not for sale that I realized that they were not purfect and I wouldn't sell something that I'm not proud of but they were usable and told him that if he would use them it would be a great help to me to hear how they do. He finally agreed to take them. I've rounded up cattle with him and he rides a nice filly that I would like to have so my goal is to get good at making horse tack, then make him a matched gear outfit and hopefully talk him out of his filly. So here is my latest work for you all to give me advise on please. Thanks Annette

Words could never say how good of work you do, so I sent all these pictures that hopefully show ya that I think. Amazing !!!!

I to love the look of that flat braid.

Howdy, not trying to be picky or anything but does that black one maybe need another round of roo or tightened?? It looks like there are some pretty big gaps in that big end knot. I'm by far a braider yet and I know the picture is showing it really up close so it might not look that way in person but I know you are very proud of your work and would want it to be the best when it goes out so just throwing out my opinion.

Great looking work and whow only 3rd one. Only thing I would have wanted if it was my saddle would have been rawhide sturips.

Thanks for sharing about your faith, its good to hear and see how God can work in people's lives. Glad to see this is a site that when God is mentioned the post doesn't get deleted In looking at those pictures it also brought to my mind the mircle of the truck not blowing up or catching fire, isn't that what alot of that age ect of trucks when in a side impact crash like that doing due to where the gas tank was??? or am I wrong about the tank being kinda by the cab?? Anyway you are a very blessed man. Just goes to show everyone we never know the day or time so be ready always.

Whow nice pic's of your home away from home. My workshop is my dinning room table with a cat that likes to grab my strings as I try and braid, and 3 dogs that all want attention so put their paws up onto my lap or push my arm while I'm trying to cut and bevel. But like you I wouldn't give what I have up for anything. That first pic diffently would make a hallmark card.

Thanks for showing us how you make those. A picture says a 1000 words, thanks for taking the time to teach us. Greatly appriciated.

Here are a few pictures of the antlers. Dave your work looks great. There is one antler that is smaller with a little notch that makes a purfect hand hold, thats the one if it would work for a knife I would like made into one for me. I don't want anything real big just a nice medium size, sharper then crap using knife. Let me know if we can work out a trade. Like I say not sure what antlers are worth if anything. If they don't look like anything that you can use or want could you please still tell me if a knife could be made for me out of that one that I'm holding and about the price to do it? Thanks Annette
-
Does anyone need deer antlers?? I've got a few shed antlers and a couple that I sawed off after shooting. Didn't know if any one here is into knife making as well as making the leather knife holders??? If there is someone interested, I'll be glad to send you pictures of them. What I am hoping is that I can send you the antlers and in return get a antler handled knife Don't know what antlers are worth or what a knife is worth but hoping that it would be a fare trade. Thanks Annette

Howdy there ! I'm in Salina so not to far from ya. I'm not into the working of leather other then learning how to cut it into lace so that I can braid. I'm wanting to learn how to make horse tack. I will diffently agree with ya on the addiction part, its as bad as playing golf. Like in golf you have crappy shots and then you hit one good one that makes ya want to play again. Have a good one, hope to see ya on alot and see your work. Annette
