  1. Please let me know when you finish the ones for the Dremel.
  2. I used sheepskin against the skin. South Carolina is as hot as Florida. The customer loved it and I have yet to hear any complaints.
  3. "Learning experiences" I like that! I have regular learning experiences after 20 years of holster making.
  4. I have a buddy who has a rattlesnake hide he wants me to make a belt and holster with. It has been skinned and is in his freezer. I told him if he could tan it or find someone who could I would be happy to do it. I explained I didn't want my first tanning job to be his skin he killed himself. Better to let someone more experienced handle that part.
  5. I have a large pegboard with the long straight hooks. Each hook will hold three or four guns. It works pretty well for me.
  6. If I don't countersink the posts, I cut a piece of kipskin about an 1/8" larger than the snap and glue it over the base of the post. I have never had one come loose yet.
  7. Totally up to you and what you feel the best about. I like the font fine but I would use leather instead of goods as well. My brand is the bird looking object in my picture. The top part is a "D" (my first initial) and all of it together is a "B" for Burdette Custom Holsters. Although I have holsters in the business name, I make everything from holsters, to satchels, to tack, to whatever the customer orders. I have gotten comments on the "brand" though. Folks seem to like it.
  8. Custom work like that is what keeps us going! It is always fun to take the ideas people come up with and turn them into workable holsters. Very nice work.
  9. Good work on the holsters. The customer is always right, especially when you can guide him to make the right decision!
  10. It's been a fun week. I always like working with different things.
  11. I am making my first messenger bag and I have a question. I am used to making holsters and I use veg tan leather for my holsters and belts and mag pouches, etc. In thinking about this messenger bag project I was wondering if the experts here think veg tan is the best or if I should go with a chrome tan or some other type of leather. The bag I have in mind will not be heavy so I'm thinking some rigidity but flexibility as well. Supple if you will. I'm thinking 4/5 or 5/6 oz. leather. Can anyone help me?
  12. Thanks again guys! Harley it's 7/8 oz. leather with a 3 oz. liner. I really made it just as a show piece to take to gun shows and have hanging around the shop for folks to look at but I've already got orders for two of them.
  13. Harley45 that is actually an elephant and nickel dot concho I decorated the belt with. But you gave me a great idea! The picture is bad but the belt has round pieces of elephant with 3/8" round nickel spots. The holster loop, mag pouch, and cuff case, has elephant and the same spot as well. The badge holder also has a n elephant overlay.
  14. Thanks guys! I don't post a lot but I have learned from being on here.
  15. I was inspired by Some rigs I saw on some other custom maker's sites (J S Custom Leather, Kirkpatrick, and Tucker Gunleather) and I decided to make my own. It was a fun build.
