The 30S frame is the same frame as the 30. However the slide is slightly slimmer. Which is what makes absolutely no sense to me, the gain is super negligable moving to the G30S from the G30. If the frame is fatter than the slide, then what difference does a slimmer slide really make? Sure you save 3.5 ounces, but come on, really? I dont understand the 30S OR the soon the be released 42

G30 blue gun will work for the G30SF. Dont know why youre even looking at the 30S, which is an animal all its own, as many here have already told you.

Had a good friend ask me to make him a sheath for his Fox NERO knife. I've only done a couple of simple sheaths before, and am lost on ideas for this one. He would like to carry it with his belt line just about where the grips end at, and would like some sort of positive retention since the grips are longer than the blade. I change them when the stitches start acting funny. Maybe once every half pound of top thread or so. Sometimes sooner after doing a bunch of stingray or gator. They tend to dull the needles out quicker. You can pretty much see when the needle gets rounded over. Even ground flat it will still punch through the leather and make a stitch, albeit a bit ugly.

I like the color and finish. Be careful with trademarked logos though!

Same sealant I use on the rest of the holster/belt, which is Weaver Leather Kote diluted 50/50 with water

grip down SOB is a good way to shoot yourself through the spleen, or at least muzzle yourself with each draw stroke. Most reputable makers wont even consider such a design.

Had a request to do a pancake holster for a Coonan with a cow fur inlay. Let me say that I really have anxiety attacks when doing "inlay" holsters, and with the added degree of difficulty from the cow fur, I did not have an awesome time making this holster. However, seeing a photo of the excited recipient wearing it made it absolutely worth the effort. Here ya go. Merry Christmas everyone.

Matt I'm going to give that a try. I've tried the rolling pin but it's awkward and the pin is ~12" wide whereas the belt is only 1-1/2" or so. Geneva, I use two pieces of 7-8oz leather to make a 14-16oz double layer belt. They are way stiffer than any 16oz single layer belt I can build which helps keep the holsters nice and tight to the body. Thanks all for the advice, lots of good ideas, dont stop now! Very much appreciated!

Just curious if anyone has an easy way for bonding the double layer belts. Typically I just use the contact cement, wait until dry, then bang the pieces together with a 5 pound deadblow but as order volume builds, my elbow and should are starting to hate that method. I was thinking of something like a pasta roller or maybe an old clothes wringer but figure there has to be an alternative? Tandy has an embosser that I am considering modifying but I hate to gamble with 500 bucks. What do you guys do?
