  1. Hubby says it has to go, it's taking up too much space and it's too heavy for me to move around. Have no idea what it's worth but I am willing to sell it for the best reasonable offer. Someone please give her a good home. Located in Virginia
  2. She is supposed to send me a picture of the actual seat tonight and some dimensions. Thanks for sending the pics and helping with this, I will probably have more questions tonight. Susan
  3. All I know so far is that it is a LePera silhouette seat. Her handlebars have recently been changed and now she is having trouble sliding back in the seat. I have only made solo seats and I really don't want to turn the work down, but I don't know where to start or how to make it fit her. Maybe I'm in over my head....
  4. I was asked to make a seat today and to modify it to keep the lady from sliding back as she does in the seat now. Can one of the wonderful seat builders tell me what I would have to do to make this work? Thanks, Susan
  5. Yesterday I thought I had the beast figured out, I adjusted the stitch length and finally got the tension corrected and I was sewing along with some scraps and I was impressed. I got up this morning and thought I could just start from where I left off yesterday and low and behold I am back to square one, and not one thing has been changed unless the machine has a ghost or something. I wish if that were the case he/she would adjust it back when they are done using it!!! Ugggghhhh.
  6. I think I have it threaded correctly, the biggest 2 problems I am having now is stitch length (it would be a great leather cutter) the stitches are so short and I can't figure out how to lengthen. I am also having a problem with the bobbin thread looping about an inch too long on each stitch. You think everything looks great until you turn the piece over and then you see huge loops of thread all the way down. Sometimes it sews correctly and loops and correctly again all in the same piece, it keeps changing back and forth without anything being changed on the machine. Thanks! Susan
  7. Thanks, I think there is a manual on this site down farther on the page, I found it yesterday but just haven't downloaded it yet. I finally had to walk away from the old girl yesterday and if I could have picked her up I probably would have thrown her out the window, but I just took a break from it and did something else.
  8. I am trying to learn to use my antique adler 30-1, I have some paperwork as to how to thread the thing, but after that I am totally in the dark and frustrated. Does anyone use one of these antique 300lb monsters anymore and if so, what type of thread do you recommend, are needles available anywhere, and any tips or tricks to get it adjusted would be of great assistance. Thanks! P.S. Looks exactly like the Singer 29-4, so possibly might be similar instructions.
  9. That is beautiful, great job !!!

    Bicycle seat

Sorry for the late reply, very busy last couple of days. The seat was all done in a heavy veg tan, which was all I had at the moment, the lace is kangaroo in natural. The drink holder lace is some sort of plastic type stuff that the lady at tandy gave me to try when I was in there. She was very generous and gave me a whole box, I don't really like the stuff because it breaks easily, but it was a smallish project, so I figured it would be ok. Atleast the black color hides alot of the imperfections, cause I thought it looked pretty bad beforehand, I even had reservations of it ever being put on a bicycle, but it's on there, so it will probably stay as long as we own the bike or until something drastic happens. I can't complain, he is the cook in the house, so I get dinner every night. Thanks!!!
  11. I love it, great work!
  12. These are fastened with a regular snap, nothing fancy, sorry, didn't think to post a picture of that side. These are done with a mexican basket weave, I am using roo lacing. I don't know how old the kids are but when I make these I use an awl and a pair of plyers to pull when the needle gets stubborn, kids would have to be supervised or one could get a nasty jab. I don't mind making them, it's kinda fun. Thanks!!! SusanC
  13. Dave, As always I'm in awe of your work. I'm still in the fear stage on my seat, and since the tutorials are gone I have been bummed out. Your seat is outstanding as usual ! SusanC
  14. I think the saddle is great, I would love to be able to make one but I'm not quite ready yet. I'm still in the motorcycle seat fear stage. Great work! SusanC
  15. These are some promise bands I've been working on. They seem pretty popular with the teenagers. Just something small that I can carry around with me to work on. I need to clean up some of the lines but so far I am fairly happy with them.

    Bicycle seat

Ok, well I was too scared to try the motorcycle seat that I have been thinking about doing for a year, so I figured a bicycle seat was smaller and would be easier... (I think I was wrong about that) Anyway, my hubby wouldn't let me purchase him a new seat, he is pretty frugal and since his still had part of the original vinyl attached, he would never agree to purchase one, so I snook off to the leather room with an extra seat we had on hand and crafted up a new leather one. It is far from perfect, but he must've sort of liked it because it has already found a home on his bike. Feel free to comment.
