  4. I have had enough requests for dyed holsters that it's time to ask a few questions. My holster is worn directly against the skin for most people and I want to be sure that the dye does not bleed. 1- I know that alcohol based dyes require a finishing coat, do oil dyes need this coat as well? I assume so, but I would rather ask an know then to guess. 2- Would I need to use a finish coat on the undyed side of the leather that faces the skin? I am wondering if the dye will bleed through with enough perspiration. 3- The finish I picked up is Fiebings acrylic resolene. Is this the finish you would recommend to prevent bleeding with an oil dye? 4- I use only horsehide. I don't know if or how that would be a factor, but I figure it's worth mentioning. Any word of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Velcro?

Wow! I never thought to use the word "sheets". I was able to find tons of strips, but nothing like this. THANKS!!!

    Velcro?

I am looking for large pieces of Velcro for a project but I can not seem to find them. I would prefer 12x12 sheets if possible. Any idea where I can find that? Thanks!
  10. *UPDATE* TwinOaks was spot on! I just got off the phone with the BATFE and from a legal standpoint an FFL transfer would be required for taking possession of a firearm for business use. As a holster business you can get an FFL that would be like a gunsmith's FFL and it cost $200 for the first 3 years and $90 for every 3 years period thereafter. Thanks TwinOak! I never would have considered this if you had not posted your response.
  11. I have never had a problem and I doubt I ever will, but I figured it's worth asking for tribal knowledge. Being someone that carries a gun, I am already a firm believer in precautionary measures. :-)
  12. Thanks for the replies! That has never crossed my mind. Would you be willing to post that doc or PM me a copy?
  13. Do any of you use liability waivers when a customer leaves a firearm with you? When a firearm is left with me I will take down the serial number and the time it’s dropped off, then log it out when the customer picks up their firearm and holster. Recently a customer suggested that I expand this to include a liability waiver. He said, “What would you do if someone claimed you scratched their Kimber and demanded you pay for it?” This got me thinking though, am I opening myself up to unnecessary liability? What are your thoughts?
  14. I doesn't work for vacuum forming Kydex. I turn down Sig 1911's unless they drop the gun off.
  15. At work eh? Most forums activity seems to slow down around 5pm... I cant imagine why? :-) There are also "Red guns" but I don't have an experience with those.
  16. Very nice! I have not had much luck finding Velcro in any form other then strips. Where do you find the sheets of it for your holster?
