Trying a search didnt pay off, so here goes: Is there a way to remove impressions, marks, indents in tooling leather? I am having trouble getting my machine dialed in for the amount of pressure it puts on the leather and i am ending up with the dreaded foot imprints. Any advice, expertise or a direction to a thread would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Warpe

After some trial and error, here it is: My first flat backed mag holder for a Double Stacked 9mm. Had a small issue with the dye (oil contamination from the sewing machine). Guess there is a reason why most dye BEFORE sewing.

The "one" book is to get a glimpse at all the possibilities and THAN to expand off of that to the areas that are either useful to me and my work or I myself am interested in. Basically, I am looking for a book that will introduce me to a bunch of examples and help point me in the area i want to go. Warpe

I am looking for a book that is a jack-of-all but master of none (carving, stamping, braiding, patterns, dyeing, etc.). Does one exist? Just looking for general information. Al Stohlman's book has been mentioned, but is there others? Thanks for the info in advance. Warpe

I like that holster....you did a fine job on it. Sorry to hear about your shop. That is actually one of my biggest fears (fire in the shop) since i also gunsmith and i have plenty of flammables around.

I have thought of that, but i am not really keen on the look, plus i like the idea of protecting the bottom of the mag. Thanks for the suggestion though....it is not totally ruled out. Warpe

I would like to give a big thanks to all that have given me good advice and help over the last week. I recently purchased a CB3500 and guess what?.....yup.....i got into trouble. Ok...I am seriously over engineering the thought process here. I am trying to make a flat backed mag pouch. I have over sized the front piece, but i run into an issue with the bottom portion of the leather bunching up. I see others have it down, and would like some input on what i am measuring wrong. Sounds good. I haven't seen an issue with thread or bobbin tension, it is mostly feet/dog pressure that i have to lighten up to get rid of the track marks. Thanks for the heads up info. Warpe

I am finally getting familiar with its functions, now just fine tuning the tensions and the foot pressure and practicing my stitching and by the end of the weekend, i should be stitching my first project!!!!! I was really surprised at the weight of the machine and how quiet it runs. I am seriously happy i let people on this forum talk me into purchasing it!! Warpe

Today was a good day! Just received my CB3500!! It is sitting there all assembled and just waiting on me to start stitching. Won't be until tomorrow though since i ended up having to rewire the room (old house wiring). But hey!! Tomorrow is another day!!

Actually, the main reason for the "sweat shield" is not sweat, but to keep the safeties or other protrusions of the firearm from digging into your skin when sitting. Why they started being called sweat shields is beyond me....it all boils down to personal preference of comfort. I carry both styles of holster, and because of my slim build, i find the shields to be more comfortable on IWB's. Also, a majority of the manufactures now cater to the "low profiles" and actually carry very nicely without shields. Again, it is personal preference. Warpe

Well, took the plunge, upset the wife a tad and ordered a CB3500! It ships next week, and i can't wait. Thanks to all who helped in my decision.
