I overlooked you have 4 identical machines. Sorry about that. You could try switching the bobin indeed. Good luck.

Another guess from overhere. Have you tried other needle types or sizes? Or thread? Maybe it doesn't like your needle/thread combo. Checkspring like Constabulary mentioned could be something. You could play with the timing a tiny bit. I know it's not the way to go, but most of the times I time my machines on feeling. I rarely use the factory settings. BUT (!) I only have old and sometimes half worn machines. Good luck! Hope you can finish the puzzle.

Pearson / BUSMC / Pearson & Bennion No 4

Sorry, I can't help you. Just wanted to say, WAUW! Realy nice. Good luck finding parts for that machine. -
I Don't have any experience with Cobra or the material you are sewing. But does this also happen when you sew thicker material? A few layers or thick leather? The material in the picture looks pretty thin for a heavy duty machine like that with that needle and thread size. Again, no experience, just a thought. Sandy.

Please don't be sorry for the misunderstanding. It's on me because of my poor English. Sometimes I realy stuggle with it. My regulators don't interchange either. Different thread. The lenght of the regulator screw doesn't affect the right movement. Only the left movement. Feed direction.

I am not sure if we understand each other correctly. I meant this gap. Does it close entirly? I guess it does. That is your stop. No adjustment for that as far as I can see. I guess there are 3 fixes. 1-find out wich part is wrong and replace it. 2-custom needle clamp. 3-if there is enough space. Remove a mm or 2 from the peace right to the double arrow. Be carefull with this one. Hard to undo it.

Not very familiar with this machine. Played a few times with it a few years ago. I don't know how or if the take up lever can be adjusted. I meant just increase the tension on the top thread. That's the most obvious. Or am I missing something? If it doesn't work, just turn it back. It looks backed up pretty far.
-
It looks to me tou need more top tension. And your needle plate looks very worn on one side. The hole is very big. Use the other side.

I guess when you don't have a gap at the arrow, someone in the past replaced a part that wasn't exactly the same? Can't think of something else. You could always have someone machine a new needle clamp. That should solve the problem.

It looks to me you are one tooth to far on the fitrst (left) gear. You have to start at the first tooth. At both. Not an expert, but a friend of mine had a 29k1. He changed the gears. We put it in the way I explained.

Make sure you polish the tip well. It could scratch the surface of the piece where it rubs against to.

Thank you so much Constabulary. I will have a look at the machine tomorrow with the manual! Sandy. -
Singer 133k17 threading and stitch length adjustment

Definitely thanks for your time Dikman. Tried to download the parts manual. Again, I can't open it. Have to sort that out. Happens a little too often lately. I found some pictures of a 132k6. I didn't know that machine btw. The threading is pretty similar. The thread on that machine also makes a steep angle! I guess it's just the way to do it. Here is a pick of the threading on a 132k6. Yesterday I was at my 133k17. Forgot to take a closup picture. I am missing the loop in the middle. Have to manufacture that one. -
That regulator being to short would indeed explain the needle not going to the left all the way. Without that regulator the stichlength is zero. Have you checked where the needle misses stichlength? Starting point or at the end. Picture of the end point.

Double Needle Machine Uses (Singer 112G139 & 300W-1)
sandyt replied to landrand's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Last week I bought a singer 133k17. It was in a lot of 3 machines. The singer, a pfaff 132 and a union special similar to the machine in that youtube clip from Gottaknow. Double needle chainstitch. It's a dream not having to change a bobin! One can sew on and on and on.... Didn't know the use of it either. Could only think of jeans. Inside leg at mine. Now I know I could be a tent maker also, haha. To bad I don't have enough space to keep it. Nice machine. -
Strange. I guess the arm that moves from right to left goes all the way back to right? There should be no gap between the bushing on the main lever and that arm. But I guess you checked that al ready. I presume the needle does go all the way to the left? That clearence to the right you have, do you also have that clearence between the slot where the needle goes in under the needle plate? Sorry for my bad English. I hope you get what I mean.

Singer 133k17 threading and stitch length adjustment
sandyt replied to sandyt's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Dikman, I have to compare more pictures I guess. Didn't think of the parts list. Maybe the name of that part gives me an idea what's it for. I don't think it is the long arm version of the 133k8? Mine has drop feed and a jumpfoot? The k8 is a darning machine? Constabulary, too bad for that hard drive. Hope you can restore your data sometime. Good thing there is 'the cloud' these days. Lost a few hard drives myself. -
Does the needle of the pedersen go all the way to the right in the needle plate? Are you sure you backed the 'nut' on the stitch regulator all the way? Sometimes these will seize by gunk ore rust over time.

Singer 133k17 threading and stitch length adjustment
sandyt replied to sandyt's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hi Dikman, The thing I am concerned about is the thread making a steep angle going up. My other machines don't do that. And there is the pin (pin) I don't use. I marked it with the red arrow. Should it be used? Sandy. -

Hi people, I recently purchased a Singer 133k17. I can't find a manual for it. There are a few links, but they don't seem to work. Could somebody tell me how to thread it? The way I did it doesn't seem logical to me. And could somebody tell me how to change the stitchlength? I know I have to push the button and turn the handwheel. When I do so, the stitchlength changes or it feeds backwards. But I don't seem to get the logic in it?? Thanks in advance for any help. Greetings, Sandy.

5mm is way too short. Did you mean 5 cm?
