I am trying to collect all the 2D/3D Leather Stamps made by Craftool, Midas and The Leather Factory (LF). I getting really close but I'm having difficulty finding anything on Craftool 8540. I think it is a Wild Cat but I don't know where I got the information from. Some people are going to say that the 8540 "Live to Ride" is the Craftool stamp and if that is so then I need information on the LF 8540. Either way, I have the 8540 "Live to Ride" stamp and I need the other 8540, no matter if it is Craftool or LF. Can any help me? Dale

Which Smiley Face? If it was 8541 you got a great deal. If it was 8661, then Tandy would still carry it, but it might have been recently discontinued so the price would still be good. Either way, unless you are trying to collect all the stamps, it wouldn't matter. The Smiley Face is a great stamp. I love to use it on key FOBS.

What others do you have duplicates of? I actually need a lot more than what I listed above. The ones listed above are for my own collection but I'm looking for about 200 stamps for Scouts.

I have this in my Craftool section. I suspected it might be a LF stamp but the image of a motorcycle symbol seems inconsistent with most of the other LF stamps, most of which are animals . But it is also inconsistent with the craftool stamps surrounding it. It is very detailed like the LF stamps. Since it is sold at Tandy, I probably assumed, early on, that it was a Craftool stamp. This goes all the way back to the beginning when I started the list. I started just putting the stamps in numerical order based on what I had, and the Tandy catalog photos. It wasn't until I learned about the different brands that I started to sort them that way. I decided to switch it to the LF section. Now I need to find out what 8540 craftool stamp is. That might be the Wild Cat, since right next to it would be a Roaring Bear. I have what is probably the most complete list of 2d/3d stamps that anyone has put together. 501 Craftool, 48 Leather Factory and 193 Midas. Plus 24 unbranded Scout related stamps. To complete my collection of these stamps I only need: Craftool - 2 stamp Leather Factory - 2 stamps Midas - 4 stamps Unmarked Scout Stamps - 7 Stamps As soon as I can get these last 15 stamps I'll put a list together with photos and post it on this site. In addition, I also have: All the Alphabet sets from Craftool/Midas and some others. All the Craftool handle stamp sets. All the Craftool/Midas 2D/3D stamp sets. 9 or 10 Zodiac stamp sets. I am trying to find out what the Leather Factory #8540 3d stamp is. I have it listed on my spreadsheet as a Wild Cat but I'm not sure if that is the correct description. I've been working on my list for around 8 years and I want to make sure it is as correct as possible. I have about 750 leather stamps that I'm going to be listing on ebay soon. But I wanted to give you guys a shot at them 1st. These are stamps I have bought over the years to work with Scouts and other Youth Groups. I was saving them because I wanted to put together multiple sets of tools that I could loan out to these groups. But I realize how impractical (expensive) that goal is. I've decided to focus on expanding the 5 sets of tools that our local BSA Council has along with two sets that I'm putting together. One for short (2-4 hour) classes and the other, a much larger set, for use at summer camps or weekly classes I want to do. The proceeds from selling these tools will go towards the purchase of additional tools, supplies, chairs, and workbenches/HD tables for use in Scout and other Youth Group leatherwork classes. I estimate I need around 9k - 10k to get what I need. This amount includes a trailer to store and haul everything around. It is basically everything needed to do classes almost anywhere as long as there is a room to set up in. The pdf file below, is a list of the Stamps and the prices. If I only have 1 of a particular stamp, you will get that stamp. If I have more than 1, then I will pick it out. I can send photos of the exact stamps before shipping, just ask. Anyone interested in trading leather stamps? I'm not looking to sell anything. Just trade. I'm looking for multiples of all the Boy Scout, Cub Scout, Girl Scout, O.A. and Wood Badge Leather Stamps. Plus a lot more. Our Council has at least 5 sets of leather stamps I'm trying to add to. Four of the sets are smaller and loaned out to MB Counselors and used in CS Day Camps. I was part of the fundraising team of my son's troop while he was in scouts. We did a lot of things to raise money. We did the regular selling of stuff but the most successful fundraisers were when the Scouts did something. We did cleanup of a park after the 4th of July fireworks display and did Christmas wrapping for donations in front of a department store. I mainly work with the Scouts doing Leatherwork Merit Badge classes now. But I have a few ideas for some fundraising at the Council level. I hope to get them started next year.

Weaver Leather has a video on it. It is used to make custom color antique pastes. The weaver video shows some coasters with a few different Angelus paint colors as an antique. You mix the paint and Neutral paste. So you can create an antique paste in any color you want.

I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Although I would love to have my own cnc machine, I will join a makerspace that already has one and use their equipment. Then once I learn enough I might start looking for my own equipment. I know that tandy uses molds to make their 3d stamps. The only mold I might use is to make the back part of the 3d stamp and use that as the backing for a machined stamp face. Or machine the stamp with a thicker base and thread a bolt on it to use it with a mallet. I'm going to Alaska in a week and will be there for about 5 weeks. I found a makerspace there that has what I need. There is also a Tandy that has a very skilled leatherworker there and I plan on spending a lot of time learning the stuff I should already know based on the amount of tools I already have. I'm sending a nice set of leather tools for me to use up there and might leave them there so I can use them whenever I go there. I usually spend a couple weeks at a time up there when I go and may be doing it several times a year. So it might be worth it. Maybe my Daughter or Son-in-Law will pick up the hobby.

What would you like to talk about?

Were a little off topic now. I'm not interested in making any figure carving stamps like Barry King or any of the others. I want to know how to make custom 3D stamps like the Tandy stamps. Not to mass produce them. I'm talking making one offs. The kind of stamps that are commonly referred to as "Maker's Stamps". It is the same principle weather you making a stamp with your name on it or some graphic image to stamp into leather. I'm not under the illusion that they are going to be cheaper to make. I know they are going to cost me more. But, if I make several hundred of them over the next few years, it might be cheaper for me to purchase the equipment than to send them out to get made. Not to mention the fact that I could have something made within a couple hours instead of days. So how can I take a 1" thick piece of brass and make it into a stamp using a cnc machine. Not melting it and pouring into a mold. Not using hand tools to shape it into what I want. But taking a 3D image from my computer and have a nice finished stamp come out the other end. Thanks, Dale
