  6. This might help to know what your getting into.
  7. Just finished up the treadle base. I had to make a new pitman arm . Luckily there was a guy on eBay sell a pitman arm for a 29-4 and he gave the total length and center measurement from hole to hole.
  8. #2 Art is right! This is a useable antique upholstery tack puller. It has a unique design with a steel pivoting lever and one moving, and one stationary jaw to grasp the medium large head upholstery type tacks. The pivot lever allows additional leverage and firmer grasp of the same type tack. It is possible to use it on other than upholstery tacks but seems to work best on tacks with the larger heads. Thanks Art
  9. I was wondering if you guys knew what these tools might be I found them in my Singer 29-4 wooden box.
  10. The one in the first photo is the way I got this pitman arm why I bought it. Pretty cobbled up. So I decided to make one up. This is a prototype the finish one will be made of hard Maple like the originals. The dimensions are as followed. Length 16 1/8" Thickness 1/2" From center of hole to center of hole is 13" The first set of holes the holes the treadle and fly will ride on are done with a 1/2" forstner bit. The second hole was done with a 5/8" forstner bit. These were cut on a drill press. If you don't have the hardware I know the wood inserts can be made and I am sure with a little brain power the metal hardware can be made.
  11. Thanks Doug I found a picture of one I will be fabricating it out of hard Maple.
  12. Thanks Bob! So Bob from center of hole to center of hole is 12 3/4"? If I were looking for a replacement ( I think there were two different kind wood or iron) I know the wood ones were made of maple. What is the total length of the piece? Thanks Chris
  13. I am looking at a 29-4 Machine now the only problem is the rod that goes between the treadle and cam is missing. I was wonder that this is called and could someone take a photo and give me the measurement of the rod and hole locations? TIA Chris

  18. I signed up a few weeks ago and have been looking over this site ever since. There is a lot of knowledge here and the best part everyone is willing to share info and stories and that's a good thing. I am newer then a newbie when it comes to leather working. I hope to learn a lot from the masters on this site. I am posting my first leather project here its a holster for a 1858 Remington New Army 8" barrel. I am very open to constructive criticism so please fire away.
