I am thinking the bottom is made from regular 1 by dimensional lumber cut to the oval shape this would account for the upholstery tacks I see at the bottom. What do you think?

I just bought the book Sheridan Style Carving with Bill Gardner and Clinton Fay. In the back of the book there are pictures of these Kick @ss waste paper baskets. Does any one have a pattern or a place I can go to get the pattern. I really don't need the tooling pattern I really need the construction pattens. -Chris

Well I know what my next buy is.

I pity that stack of papers if you ever got a paper cut! LOL!

I understand you are using lead shot (#9) What keeps it from coming out at your strap slot? I am using steel shot. I have a pice of 9 oz. in the middle then I cut out the working end leaving a 1/4 in. a round the head for sewing then the rest is solid. I then put the three layes all together but only glueing the head down where you can barely see the cavity in the head. Then I stitched around the head then filled it with shot and glues all the rest together and carried on with the stitching. I also had the strap and string steel installed on the one side of the leather Are you using a gusset piece for the shot to lay in? If so does the front rivet hold that together in the mid section where there is no stitching (to keep the shot in)? the strap piece and glue hold this all in place, the shot that is. The spring steel piece, do the rivets go all the way through? the spring steel rivet the the body and strap on one piece of leather

If you look at mine, where the two rivets attach the handle I put in a piece of spring steel and rivet the handle, strap and body all together. The spring steel gives it that little something extra you might say it aids in a DEEP penetrating massage Chris

Hoping Someone May Have A Speed Bag Pattern. (Boxing).
sinpac replied to NDMain's topic in Patterns and Templates
I found this it might help 1 Using the tracing paper, draw a rounded triangle shape on the paper. The size will depend on how large you want your final speed bag to be. Remember that you will be sewing the edges together, so you will want the pattern to be larger than the size that you want it to be. You will need about four to six pieces, but you only need to make one pattern. After you have the pattern that you want, pin it to the cloth. 2 Use the scissors to cut the shape from the cloth. Pin the pattern to the cloth and repeat for every piece of the bag that you decide to cut out. Put the pieces together. 3 Sew the sides of each piece together with the heavy thread and sewing machine. After a few pieces, this can get a little tricky. The last seam might have to be sewn by hand, or you can turn the whole thing inside out and sew it. 4 Turn the bag right side out and fill with your desired stuffing. The wood chips will make for a softer bag, but the sand will give you a better workout. Fill up almost to the top, but don't fill it up all the way, as you will need to sew up the top of the bag. 5 Insert the tab of fabric inside the bag, leaving the top of the tab hanging out. Stick the metal ring inside the tab, so that it sticks out along with the top of the tab. Sew the top of the bag closed (you will most likely have to do this by hand), sewing the tab together along with it. The bag should be taut and not hanging loose anywhere. You should be left with a tab hanging out of the top and the metal ring attached to it. Hang the bag from any speed bag board, and you are done! -
Thanks Dave, I still prefer my trusty M1 Garand. Some about the emblock making that ting as it exits the rifle after the 8 round have been shot.
