If you are interested in some scrap leather, please message me here or feel free to send a PM. I have a clean barrel/trash can bought specifically for this use and never had trash in it that's always been kept covered in my climate controlled shop full of small pieces and long strips of scrap leather. All the leather is cut from Wickett and Craig hides and has not been stained or dyed. I'm simply looking to sell some of it to make room in the barrel for more scraps from my projects because the barrel is full. If no one is interested that's fine. I would rather not just toss it if someone could use it. Thank you for your time and attention.

How about this. 2 pounds of scrap leather, $20 shipping included in the US. The scale was zeroed out with the box on it, so that is the weight of just the leather. Most of my scraps look like this. Is it just trash? Would there be interest in anything like this or am I wasting my time? Are my prices too high? Should I separate shipping? Offer more per lot (I'm doing it this way because the envelopes seemed cheapest)? I'm not looking to make a business of this, just get rid of some scraps for what I thought was cheap. I do't get insulted so fire away with any criticism. I figured someone could use it, but if I' wrong I'll just toss it. It's taking up room and I'm just looking to get rid of it plus a little extra for my time. Money isn't my motivation if anyone has any advice how to sell this stuff.

Good morning! The bin I have for scraps is about full and I need to start selling it off to make room for more. I'm going to start off with some of the excess strips off the end from when I cut straps with my AK-20. All of these are off Wickett & Craig hides. 2 pounds of leather, all are 10/11 ounce leather, some wider than others since they are the excess cut off the ends and mostly between 6-8 feet long, although there could be a few shorter ones. $23 obo, shipping included in the US via USPS Priority Flat Rate Padded Envelope.

Very sorry I never responded. We moved and things have been out of control. If you're still willing, I'll private message my shipping details. Thank you.

I think some places call them button snaps, spot snaps or segma snaps. They're used for gloves and the like and have a lower profile than the 'line" snaps. They have 10mm or smaller head, a smaller base and a post that can attach to 6/7 ounce leather. Thanks.

I know it was a mistake but I ordered some glove snaps from Tandy. They say they're for up to 6/7 ounce leather but the posts are too short. Big surprise. I like The Buckle Guy for other stuff but just found out for whatever reason they no longer send samples. They look right but after the Tandy debacle I would like to check and make sure they'll work. I don't need another 100 snaps I won't be able to use. I need the small glove snap type snaps with 10mm (3/8 inch) heads (or smaller) for 6/7 ounce leather. Anyone know a place that will send me a couple of samples just so I can check the posts.

Yes, thank you. I will let you know.

Thank you Eric. I hate to pass on this thing, but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it happen. At least right now it doesn't look good. I'm going to keep working on it, but I won't ask you to hold it for me. Thanks again, much appreciate it. Mike

Thanks for getting back to me E. Sorry was out of my shop for the rest of the day yesterday. I've been doing some research on this machine. Would this be the model that weighs around 3,200 pounds, and would I be able to get a pallet jack under it? Trying to see if I can put together a truck and some friends to come move it. Sorry for the questions. Last thing you want is to answer a bunch of questions when you're giving something away. But I would rather waste as little of your time as possible. Thanks again.

I'm nterested. Where in NYC are you?

I have used dyes in the past, but I like the way stain looks on leather, so that's what I've been using exclusively for some years now. It seems like everyone here uses dyes, so I'm mainly asking the question because I'm a little curious if suppliers would ever consider discontinuing selling stains. I sometimes see people say stain, but they're really talking about dye. But stain is stain and dye is dye. They take different and they look different. So what do you all prefer and/or use, stain or dye?

FOR SALE - Hand Operated "EZ Edge" Strap Edger w/ Extra Blades
Mike516 replied to DavisonLeather's topic in Old/Sold
I have been looking for one of these used, but it's actually $875 new from Weaver at their wholesale price. I think all you need to open a new wholesale account is a $500 order, so with the edger you can open an account and get the wholesale price. Sorry. but you might have a hard time selling it used for $1000.- 5 replies

Are you selling the clicker/press or the die? And how much are you asking?

First Class mail you're probably right. But shipping Priority Mail or UPS heavy-ish packages like leather sides is going to be more from Springfield MO than it is from PA for me. I been shipping all manner of odd shaped and different sizes including sewing machines, and I can tell you, especially with the USPS, the price differences are a lot different depending on where I ship to. But mainly I'm trying to find a reliable supplier and I went with W&C because you guys all recommended them. So we'll see what happens.
-
I just placed a small order with W&C for the first time this morning. After being annoyed with SLC for axing their free shipping, I realized it's not their fault the shipping companies keep raising their rates. But I don't want to raise my prices, and the shipping costs keep going up (they're about mid country so probably toughest for the coasts). I would like to have a reliable supplier close to home that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for shipping. So I got my fingers crossed

Knot used to tie two ends of a cuff together.
Mike516 replied to Mike516's topic in How Do I Do That?
I made a few and I'll tie different knots and wear them for a while to see if they come apart, if they stretch and how they hold up through normal wear. I usually do this with whatever I make and abuse it to see of they hold up anyway. I was hoping someone could tell me a good knot to use though. I have searched the web but I'm still not sure what knot would be best. Thanks though. I guess trial and error, as usual. -
I want to secure two ends of a wrist band or cuff project together with waxed braided cord or thick thread. Is there a special knot I should use or will a square knot hold well enough? I want to cut the end off short and don't want it coming apart. I was thinking about burning/melting the knot together as well, but I'm not sure if that's the proper way to do it. Thanks in advance.

Looks good. I built a very similar work bench like the one you have under the medicine cabinets. But I added a shelf and sides underneath to store hides out of direct sunlight and the overheads.
