  1. Hello awharness. I was wondering if this is still for sale please. I see it's still on your Instagram for sale. I am interested and would like to see how it works but can't seem to find the video clip you posted. Thanks.
  2. Is this still available for sale?
  3. Looking to buy a Used Leather Strap Cutting Machine. Not like a draw gauge or wooden strap cutter or something like that. I'm looking for a hand crank or electric strap cutter. No matter what condition, working or not working, whatever brand or model, whatever you have, I'd love to see it. Thank you.
  4. Johanna, don't feel bad, I didn't read anything into your first reply. I thought you all had forgotten about the issue I mentioned, that's why I posted again. I actually wasn't aware that you do the updates and fix the glitches on your own. If I had known that, I wouldn't have bothered you with something so trivial until the dust settled. So I apologize for that, you must have had your hands full. Thank you for, in the midst of all the issues, your response and help.
  5. I wasn't too sure how much I was going to like the look of the Chicago screws, I was really doing it for the function more than the aesthetics. But I have to say I really like them. They look really really nice. Got a bottle of blue loctite 243 for plated and stainless. Think I'm all set. Just have to try them on some collars Thank you all for the suggestion.
  6. I will take the top 6 books. The one with The Art Of Embossing and the one with the 2 Volumes of Leather Cases.
  7. I will take this lot of books.
  8. I'll take these Ray. I'll Pm you about shipping.
  9. Right, I was debating about weather I would ever need to unscrew one once the project is done. And although I used to fasten everything with no thought of taking it apart, I have come to the realization that you can never be sure about that. I have definitely learned the hard way that at times it is necessary to revisit a project for the strangest reasons. Now I always keep a cordless drill charged and on standby :/
  10. Sorry to hear that Ray. In the brief time that we spoke, you seemed like a genuine person, which unfortunately is becoming a more rare commodity these days. Although we couldn't agree on a price for the item in question, I did enjoy the discussions. I welcome you any time to drop me a line if just to say hello. Incidentally, I wound up taking your advice and I bought one new All the best to you. Mike
  11. It's not a big deal if you're busy. Get back to me when you get a chance. Basically I'm having trouble with the store. When I try to make a donation to the site I get an error message.
  12. Great info, thank you. They make a paste that comes in what looks like a chap-stick tube. I think I may try that. Do you use the red or the blue?
  13. I have tried to send a support request twice regarding trouble making a donation, but I don't see it in my support request section. So I don't know if it went through. Is the support request section working? Apologies if this is now a triplicate request. Seems like the support function may not be working right. I would like to speak to the admin who handles donations to the site.
  14. I was looking into Loctite and they say you have to use primer on anything plated. Have you found this to be the case?
  15. Ok, thanks. I think I'll look for stainless anyway.
  16. Is the only difference between stainless and regular steel that stainless won't rust? Are they both equally strong?
  17. Ah ok thanks. I think I'm going to give stainless a shot. Been using copper rivets and they take a little to get used to. But they're strong and don't rust. Stainless won't rust either so a good alternate. Plus extra bonus to stainless is the color goes with silver hardware. The copper may tend to turn off customers a little. Options are always a good thing to have.
  18. Cool table. I'm stressing over building a small work table for a machine I bought right now, I can't imagine what would go into making one of those. Just watch out for falling marble
  19. I use veg tan. Where do you get your chicago screws from if you don't mind me asking?
  20. You're right and I don't deny it, compared to most folks around here, I absolutely consider myself a beginner and haven't seen many hides. But the ones I have gotten from Springfield have all been excellent for my uses. I have ordered from Tandy and Springfield and I can say beyond any doubt that Springfield has treated me much better than Tandy has. That is not to say there aren't good Tandy stores, and they are always fairly courteous. But my last few orders from them have been terribly disappointing, including an unusable hide. Their answer was that there wasn't much to choose from so they sent me what they had. It was my own fault for waiting until I was almost out and really needed a hide, but they did take it back. Luckily Springfield was able to send me a beautiful hide right away and I never ran completely out. Now of course I don't take any chances and keep an extra side on hand. But I can only speak from my own experience, so weather I've bought one hide or a million hides, so far they've all been good
  21. Oh ok. You had asked if anyone was aware of why they had raised their price, otherwise I wouldn't have suggested calling them.
  22. They will probably tell you why they raised the price. If you want to know, that's the best way to find out.
  23. A couple of things about Springfield Leather Company I really do have to add; They have never sent me a hide that I didn't like. For that matter, I have never been unhappy with a purchase of anything from there. Their packaging is super top notch. They are very nice on the phone and if I ever had a problem, I think it was only once on something very minor, they take care of it immediately. No need to call more than once, and they take care of business very professionally. It's a real top notch operation. And now with the free shipping, you don't have to figure out what will fit in the box to make the most of shipping charges. It's real convenient.
  24. That's not exactly what I meant. They are offering shipping on orders over $75 (I looked it up). I opined that possibly they are raising their prices a bit to absorb the loss of revenue. Nothing is ever free, it's just an illusion of free-ness. They still have to pay to ship to people so maybe they're passing that cost along. It's also possible that they have an account with UPS and don't pay what normal people pay to ship and the price raising is something else entirely. Maybe it costs more to get the hides to SLC from HO or some other unforeseen expense. My advise would be to give them a call and ask. They're super nice over there and I'm sure you'll get a straight answer.
