Hello fellow bikers and leather lovers. I love this site and I’ve learned so much from you guys. I’d like to share this pattern for a sissy bar bag in 2 sizes – small bobber size (carry your lunch) and large for the big baggers (carry the whole picnic). Small measures about 12” X 9” X 7”, Large 15” X 10” X 9”. The loop on the top is fastened with velco inside. Shoulder strap is about 46” long. I have not constructed mine yet but I have cut it out and dry fit the pieces from heavy buffalo. I just haven’t got up the courage to stitch it together yet as I’m not used to working with leather this heavy, and I have some weakness in my hands; so it may take a while. Here are drawings of the bag and print layout to help reassemble the pages. PDFs are tiled, so print at full size To assemble the bag, I suggest attaching the flap to back, sides, then front. Attach bottom last. If you choose to try it, please share your results. I always enjoy seeing all your talent and creativity. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0gKlPSNuZkrfnRPcUNpRDFqa2prUVF1eGJfN0FrcVRkWTdQUHo0NS1WbUg0dWRmUC1LWjA&usp=sharing

I Am In Need Of A Few Basic Beginner Patterns

Don Morin at Bag'n-telle has some great information - tutorials, patterns and design advise. Check it out https://bagntell.wordpress.com/ -
I totally agree with billybop. I have a nice collection of bag making books, and here are some of my favorite: Sew Serendipity Bags, Chic Bags, and The Bag Making Bible - not specific to leather but adaptable. The best for technical construction - Amy Butler's Style Stitches and Handbag Designer 101 by Emily Blumenthal. I've also snagged some good sources and patterns on stored them on Pintrist. You're welcome to brouse: https://www.pinterest.com/hoppythyme/bags/ Hope this helps.

I purchased this second hand, and don't think it suits my needs. It is not the cast iron version, and needs some cleaning and fine tuning. It definitely could use a new cable, and it currently skips stitches. I dialed in proper tension but have not tried to adjust the timing--I'll leave that to the new owner. Other than this, it appears to be complete and operational, see pics Asking $650 and I'll cover shipping in the lower 48. PayPal preferred. PM me if interested.

As a more experienced seamstress than leather crafter, but same concepts apply when it comes to getting a good size and fit -- this is what I have observed and learned: Some folks cut outside the line, others cut inside the line; but to keep size and dimensions 'true', cutting on-the-line gives the most accurate results. I also totally agree with Jim to anchor the pattern wherever you can to eliminate movement while cutting. Just my 2 cents.

I was getting worried when you hand't been online lately. I'm sorry to hear you've been ill, and hope you feel yourself again very soon. Take care, and get well soon.

PLEASE READ. MORE FREE PATTERNS! Hello friends, I've not been able to check on things much lately but I see our friend NORTHMOUNT is making sure everyone can find the patterns. BIG Thank you! I'm still hoping to see if anyone has used them. Please share your work. I continue to scour the net in search of patterns, and recently I found another interesting site. Here http://m-sewing.com/ you will find many free apparel patterns but best of all -- THERE A SEVERAL cool CORSETS, JACKETS AND COATS that would work beautifully in leather (some are made for leather). In the woman's section most of them are available FREE, FREE, FREE. There are instructions but text only - no illustrations. I found a couple of jackets with zipper accents that I know will be amazing in leather. I've dusted off the old hand crank Singer, dug out my stash, and started planning my next project. and I may call on some of you for help installing zippers - I'm a little intimidated. *One note, although there is a long list of patterns - NOT all include the pattern file. but wait, there's more... If you find a pattern you really love, the author has another site http://www.lekala.co/ where she sells the patterns (cheap - $2.99) and you can input your measurements and she'll send you a custom sized pattern. OH, and the men's patterns are there too. Here's a pic of the free pattern I'm using for my biker jacket: So if you're interested give it a try, and let us know what you think. Take care now, I'll be checking in soon.

Hello friends and fellow leatherworkers, I appologize for not responding to your requests in a while but I've been slammed since the holidays. I wanted to catch up and see if there was still interest in these patterns - and wow there is! I see that many of our members have graciously helped folks find the link to the files. BIG THANK YOU! I also noticed some of you have requested the files in their original format - DXF. So, I uploaded them to Google docs for those interested. https://drive.google...Y183SGREdmoyeFU Can someone please try the link and let me know that it works? I appreciate it. and Thank you again, Deb P.S. I'm very interested to see if anyone has actually used the patterns. If you have Please Share, I'd love to see your work.
