  1. Hidepounder, I may have mistaken the high shine to be chrome. Apologies for this and glad that you have this cleared up. Regards,
  2. Think there are already many good advise given by the more experience leather crafters. Just want to add that I like to use a block of glass as backing when doing skiving. Find that the edge is more consistently thin when doing so maybe due to the smooth and even surface of glass.
  3. You may like to consider Ron's Tools Montana edger if you are rounding off straight edge mostly. Just ordered a set of French edger from Barry King and was not too impressed with the "chrome" they apply on the cutting edge. Maybe it just me.
  4. I did the same as what BDAZ did. Running the tip of my groover along a white "rouge" leather surface. Do note that you are going the opposite direction as how you would normally groove the leather. When you see a mirror finish, it is going to cut like butter. Tried doing the same on a grit 1000 sandpaper and end up ruining the tip.
  5. double sided tape works for me most of the time. I find that using cement glue too near the edges will have difficulty with the glue "bubble" forming when burnishing later.
  6. Maybe you can consider the stitching clamp from Elfita, they are made in Korea. http://elfitakorea.blogspot.ae/2013/08/walnut-clamp.html
  7. Good move in having the Paypal set up. Am very happy with the first batch of tools received from you and look forward to seeing newer tools in the blog.
  8. Actually I think the pro stitching groover set from Tandy will work better. I have both and use this most of the time now. For really sharp corner, I think a compass will work better. Maybe you could mark a parallel line using compass first. The line will set as a guide for using the groover later.
  9. I recently order a set of corner cutter from Elfita Very happy with their service. http://beavertools.co.kr/xe/index.php?mid=knife&document_srl=527
  10. I recently bought one from a Korean tool Maker - Elfita. It is a french type stitching clamp that can be folded in half. See my below website for picture. http://www.crimsonhides.com/blog.html
  11. I use 60 - 80 lbs braided fishing line to hand sew most of my products. I think they are pretty tough.
  12. Very sleek looking stitching clamp you made. May I know what you use to hold the leather to the jaw of clamp? Thank you.
