broke down and ordered the Artisan 3000

Russ, Your order was shipped last Friday with FedEx. I just did a trace and their system shows only that it left the California hub on Saturday morning. This type of information is rather rare - as they would normally show an expected delivery date. I suspect this may be due to some bad weather. In any case I will check again tomorrow morning. My best guess is that you should have it by Friday at the latest - but I cannot know for sure until they update their system tomorrow morning. I'll keep in touch -
Hi, To begin - you should know that I work with the folks at Artisan. Having said that, if you are looking at a Consew 206 - take a look at our 618-1 SC LTHR. Better yet - call me and I will give you some ideas of what to look for and what to look out for when doing your research. That Yamata - You need to pay attention to comparing Apples with Apples. That model is not a Heavy Duty Stitcher that can sew 3/4". Call! I have no interest in trying to SELL you - I would, however, be happy to try and educate you in your search.

Art, There is nothing wrong with your sewing machines talking to you - but if you start answering them, you should seek medical help immediately!

Hi Steve, I agree with the advice given here: You really should test drive both the machines and the Company selling them. You are about to make a serious investment and you want to make sure you are investing in they type of machine you NEED and not something you purchased on a whim. I can only speak for Artisan (because I work here) when I say we really care about each and every customer we have. We will stand by our product for as long as you own it and are always more than happy to assist in any question or concern you may have - even if it is years after your investment. There is a show in Denver in January where we (Artisan) and all our friendly competitors will be exhibiting our lines of stitchers. Then, in the spring there are quite a few more shows where we, and everyone else, will also have our line available to test drive. Feel free to contact me for further details if you have any other questions. To everyone: Have a great Thanksgiving!

Hi, One more thing to look at - and that is the Black knob on the end cover of the motor - this is also a speed adjustment. Rotate the knob and then try your machine. There are 2 V-Belts on your set-up. One goes from the motor to the Speed Reducer and the other from the Speed Reducer to the Hand Wheel of your machine. Make sure they are both tightly adjusted. Although unlikely, it is possible that something in your move (or maybe not even related to the move) has damaged your motor. Here at Artisan, we don't ask any questions - if it is not working properly we will replace it under warranty. Please give us a call at 1-888-838-1408. Steve heads up our Customer Service Department - ask for him or me and we will take care of your problem immediately if you have not resolved it yourself. In fact - even if it was the speed controls on the back of the motor - I would appreciate you posting that just so I know everything is working properly. Thanks

What machine is right for me?
Artisan Dave replied to JustWakinUp's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I just noticed your post - I've fallen behind a few days, I'm sorry. Since I work with Artisan, I would like to offer you my personal efforts to make sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me - Dave - and I will take care of it. As some of you already know, we at Artisan consider the purchase of one of our Stitchers the BEGINNING of our long-term relationship and not the end of it. We really do care. -
Art, Some industrial sewing machines (overlocks, etc) need the motor turning in the opposite direction. Also, some of the folks who do not want to spend the bucks for a speed reducer should try a smaller pulley on the motor. The smaller the pulley, the slower their machine will turn. They probably have anything from a 2 1/2" all the way to a 3 1/2". Try a 2" or even smaller - there will be a noticeable difference.

Artisan and others will be exhibiting in Wichita Falls in October - why don't you take a trip and test drive us and the competition.

I will try to answer your question as unbiased as I can. To begin, I work with the fine folks at Artisan - I want you to know that right out front. Having said that, I can tell you I know John Leighton and used to sell him a lot of equipment from the 70's until I joined Artisan a year ago. John is a very nice person and has been selling Industrial Sewing Machines for a very long time. To the best of my knowledge, his Mach 1 is imported directly from China. In order for you to import the machine without any duties, you will need a NAFTA certificate stating the country of origin was Canada (not China). John may well do this for you - and it will be your decision if you want to go that route. If you look at the info published by John, the claim is the machine will sew up to 1/2" of leather. The Toro will easily sew 3/4". The Mach 1 is shipped with a clutch motor - The Toro is shipped with an Electronic Servo Motor. While an experienced operator can 'feather' a treadle to attain a similar but not identical 'stitch by stitch' effect, why order a new machine with outdated technology? Every Toro is shipped with extra needles, an extra spool of thread, a high tech Halogen lamp....and on and on. Not to mention lifetime access to our Customer Service Department - where you actually speak to a real person immediately - usually myself, Steve, or Jerry. We final assemble all our Toro machines here in Commerce, CA - so we have stock of EVERY SINGLE PART IN THE MACHINE. Should you ever require ANY part, it is shipped the same day. We also have a 2-yr Warranty on all our equipment and I am not sure what John is offering. I can assure you of this: If you maintain (a few drops of oil regularly, etc.) your Artisan machine will out live you. In other words, it is an investment that will last you a lifetime. I have no idea what John is selling the Mach 1 for, but if you divide the price difference by the number of years the machine will be used (10? 20? 30?) - you will be able to make your decision a lot easier.

Juki 441 clone was missing stitches
Artisan Dave replied to esantoro's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hello everyone, I'm Artisan Dave and, as Art mentioned I work with the fine folks at Artisan. Our Website www.artisansew.com has a section called Manuals where you can read or download the manuals for our equipment. I suggest the manual for the Toro 3000/Toro 4000 may be of assistance to those of you who have asked Art questions about timing, tensions, needle sizes, etc. Here is a link to the Toro 3000 manual. Even if you do not own an Artisan machine, the concepts covered in the manual will add to your understanding of timing a machine etc. Try it and let me know if it helped you! http://www.artisansew.com/manualsfiles/TOR...TORO%204000.pdf
