Sorry @nrk wasn't having a great day at the time and took it the wrong way.

@nrk Why thank you. Good luck to you too in whatever you happen to be doing.

Looks great. Great angle on the saddle stitch. -
My drill press motor burned up today which sent me to the forum looking at what I should do next. I have read through a lot of the topics on people who are using bench grinders/buffers and a burnisher as well as folks using drill presses. Would love to get insight on if it's time to go the bench route over the drill press or just buy a new drill press. I have never worked with bench grinder style, but would be interested to hear the benefit over the drill press (seems to be more commonly used). I am not married to either at this point. Thanks for the help.

@kiwican I am using chrome tan leather for this project. Thanks for the advice. @tinkerton I will also give that method a try. Should have some time in the shop tonight to give it a go.

I will be doing an internal sewn seam. I have been watching some videos on youtube and feel pretty good about the seam allowance etc. Since I am hand sewing, I am trying to figure the stitching holes and how to make those happen evenly across the seem. Doesn't feel like Glue is going to be a great option.

I am going to be hand stitching using 4/5oz leather.

I am setting out to make a military style duffle bag and have a good grip on everything but sewing in the circular bottom. Any direction in getting started there would be much appreciated. I have searched the forum and do not see much on this topic, so hopefully we can get a good conversation going about it.

Tom, thank for the post. I sewed the zipper first with the method you mentioned turning it right-side out etc. What I am running into with the google videos is people seem to ignore the details around the ends of the zipper to get them a finished look or I am just missing the mark. I do have a basic sewing machine I can give it a go on. Would still like to be able to turn it out by hand though.

My wife asked me to make her a zipper clutch pouch which seems pretty straight forward. Although when I got into the zipper work, it has quickly become pretty frustrating. I have looked around the forum for some zipper guidance and did not find what I was looking for. Would appreciate any helping with learning how to work with zippers and leather. For context, I am hand stitching. The leather I working with is about 2/3oz. The biggest pain point are the ends as you can see. This is an example of the style I am trying to replicate. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/380554237235643499/?from_navigate=true

That looks great, nice work! I am also going to give the tape a shot. -
Wasn't 100% sure where to post so thought I would start here. I am looking for someone in North Carolina who would consider walking through making a specific messenger bag with me. I have been doing leatherwork for a few years and have made a few bags but have hit a little bit of a wall and would love to work through a bag with someone to help improve my knowledge. An example of the bag I am looking to make can be found on instructables here, "http://www.instructables.com/id/Convertible-BriefcaseBackpack/" Ideal world, we could work through the bag on a Saturday (but will take a day off during the week if needed) and talk through the steps and pattern making for this specific bag. I am in the RDU area and willing to drive wherever around the state to meet up and will pay for your time/instruction. If anyone is up for the challenge or knows someone who would be let me know. Kind Regards, Brad

I have been working on learning to make messenger bags and keep running into the same issue whenI am stitching/chiseling. No matter how many times I measure beforehand I am ending up with a different number of holes on the main body of the bag vs the gusset. Any tips on how to figure out what I am doing wrong would be much appreciated. Thanks, Brad

Thanks for the help, this helped me out a bunch. I am going to do the harbor freight 20 ton, pick it up tomorrow. Will post some pictures when I am done.

I am looking for an alternative to the tippman clicker press. I have a few die cuts and am looking for a more economical option to start with before I graduate later to a tippman. I have searched around for a thread on this but can't find one. If someone can point in the right direction, it would be appreciated. I am perfectly fine with a manual option. Just wanted help figuring out the setup. Thanks, Brad
