  1. JD Randall leather splitter with 10" wide blade. Unit was fully restored by Sheridan leather. Has all new paint and is in really nice condition. Blade is new and razor sharp. We used it for a few special projects and now it's just been sitting because we do not need it anymore. $600.00 but I'm willing to entertain serious offers. Located in Austin Texas. Will ship for $25+ Perfect for someone who makes holsters or wallets who need to split wider pieces of leather.
  2. I do have relatives in Temecula. I could have them pick up from you possibly. Pay cash and they could pack it. Do you have the original boxes for the head? Having the packaging would make it a lot more secure to ship. If not I understand you want to do a local transaction.
  3. The 3200 seems to be the ticket. Bummer that the feet and accessories are so expensive. Ive used a 4500 and it's nice but over kill for what I do. I need thick thread and large bobbin but not the hight. The smooth feed mech is great too.
  4. I'm interested, Do you still have the packaging? I live in texas and would like to have it shipped.
  5. I'm very interested in leather die cutting machines as a new tool for my work. I have spent a long time just trying to track down names and models or even keywords to search for these types of machines. I've seen a number of models and types in photographs of shoe factory tours. I'm looking for a machine that will punch up to 3oz hide with small single holes or traditional double dot brogue patterns like is put on shoes and boots. I've found a few models ranging from a reasonably priced brand new Italian made machine here http://www.shoemachinery.com/germany/sps/sps-962-s-0i-tcsa-/perforating-punching-for-shoe-uppers/new.7595.detail.html to this lot currently for sale of two PEERLESS 1815 die cutters with a huge collection of heads for 3500.00! I understand these machines are rare I'm wondering if any other members have or have used any kind of machine like this. I'm on the fence about this kind of equipment. For the cost I'll probably be investing some serious capital into my own laser cutter which will make this type of machine totally obsolete.
  6. I'm looking to buy a heavy duty stitcher. We mainly need the machine to sew double layers of 2-3oz and 2oz to 12ounce with 277 thread on both sides. I'm partial to the Cowboy 3200. It's price is good and I don't think I need the capabilities of the 3500 and 4500. I'm very fond of the Singer 7 series machines but The lack of an edge guide and the toothed feed dogs makes me lean towards a new machine. Is anyone looking to sell a cowboy or Cobra machine or any large bobbin machine like a Singer or Puritan they are looking to sell. Carson
  7. I called, I'm in Austin an interested.
  8. I have a Singer 153K104 cylinder arm that I have been using to sew 4-5 ounce with 207 thread. I don't expect to get much more use out of this machine. It's really worn out and won't last through production abuse with the heavier 277. I think it will do for another couple of months. I'm not on the hunt for a flat bed industrial that is a large bobbin capable of sewing 277 / T270 I am willing to spend the money on a modern piece of equipment. As of now I have time though and any suggestion of a machine that is in the used category would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Wanted Skiving machine with table and motor. Must be in good fully functional condition. Must be able to skive heavy vegtan leather of 10-12 ounce thickness. I am located in central Texas. I need a machine by September probably.
  10. I'm in need of a bell knife skiving machine. I'm primarily interested in good to excellent condition vintage machines. I will need to purchase in about 4 weeks. If you have something for sale please post it here. Must be willing to ship to Texas.
  11. So I recently purchased a singer 153K104. It's seen some serious use and probably a few less than enthusiastic mechanics. I paid a mechanic here in town to replace the timing belt, fix a broken guide part in the vibrating presser foot bar and set the needle timing. I was able to sew for about 20 minutes with 2 layers of 2 ounce chrome and 1" of foam between before shit hit the fan. The hook is grabbing the thread and then instead of passing it over the top of the bobbin and completing the loop, it is becoming wound around bobbin case and then jams between the case and the rotating hook right underneath the beveled top. The bobbin case and assembly itself is very loose and has play vertically as well is in all directions. I've got both the user and parts manual but I'm not seeing a diagram for the removal or tightening the actual bobbin itself. Any help on locating the set screws to remove the play in the bobbin assembly would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I guess what I'm looking for is a "mexican basket weave style look but woven with strips cut from the two sides of the hide that is being woven together.
  13. This is a pretty vague question. I'm looking for a decorative way to weave two panels of leather together with decorative braid joining the two. If there is a way to do this by cutting connected strips from the panels then weaving them together?
  14. I bought poly thread to check out. This is the only thread that does this in my stock…
  15. So a quick update. Had to replace the existing non original rubber timing belt. It was worn and cracked with age. Not a good sign for the amount of use this machine got. Who knows why the original belt broke. Both my 52W machines still have their old cord/wire belts but they have seen very little use. Among other things the vibrating presser foot which was already jammed was discovered to have a broken spring mechanism that is part of the lifter mechanics. While my mechanic is saving me some time dealing with this myself it's defiantly turning into a bit of a money pit. I think it will end up costing me 500-600 total for the machine. But with a new belt and fresh dialed timing I'm cool with that. I'll pay it back with 2 jobs using this machine. This will probably be my last sight unseen purchase from USA Dealer. I consider that i got very lucky with my 52W22 which came in perfect condition and worked flawlessly as soon as I started sewing. It's still possible that none of this was broken when it was at their facility and it got busted in shipping.
  16. I'm willing to guess it that and a combination of the tension. It goes all the way to the needle and then changes. I'm debating moving to Poly thread.
  17. I got a new belt for it as well as a regular foot and new top plate. I would love to get an edge guide for it too but those are rare now. I'll hopefully be able to have the repair guy show me a little bit. I've tried and failed a few times to retime my machines. All of mine have been void of timing marks for what ever reason. And thank you. I have some pretty obvious brogue styling influences, I really wanted to make shoes but stopped halfway and decided I would rather run a bike company! If your looking to give it a shot 1-3 ounce chrome tan works best and the paper template is your friend. I use a laser cutter now on all my seats but the hand punch does just fine if you got the time.
  18. So I got the machine. Back foot was jammed in shipping or before. The bobbin timing was out due to a drive gear being not aligned all the way over. Overall the rest of the machine looks good. The gears are not worn but there is a rubber replacement drive belt. The belt is cracked but not terrible. It will probably break on me and I'll learn how to replace it. Until then I'll leave it to my local repair man to deal with. I'll post some more pictures when I get it back.
  19. I have a pretty annoying problem. I have a few threads that do this. I have a blue that is particularly bad. The thread is dark royal blue on the spool but once it passes through the needle and the leather the thread turns a light baby blue. It's really a dramatic change. My best guess is that the thread is getting abraded and the coating is becoming matte and causing the thread to look lighter. Any ideas on if this is just a cheap thread issue? Or needle is too small? Has any one else seen this happen?
  20. The machine with shipping was $405 but Its missing the cover plate. cylinder plate and I need a new foot for it. Providing nothing else is wrong with the machine not a bad price.
  21. Well It's been bought. I'll have to get a few parts from Sharp Sewing but if the repairs are limited to what I can see total I might be in $450. I'd love to find a flat bed attachment for it but I might have to just make my own.
  22. Ah. This would explain the W serial number and K model. Again as all three of my machines are W I will have no idea how old it is. Can any one else offer any experience sewing with this machine? It seems from the instruction guide that the presser feet are all adjustable in hight. I will probably need to adjust this since I'll need it at it's highest hight to fit quilted motorcycle seats.
