  1. Totally agree. I love beautiful things as much as the next person but I don't think a hammer needs a fancy handle to pound a nail in. Give me a round knife with more time spent on the metal and less on a cocobolo handle.
  2. Thanks to all. I'm an advertising photographer by trade....I know my way around the camera and lights thing fairly well at this point.
  3. I will. For the first hundred years give or take, the store was located in San Francisco. I used to walk to it as it was right around the block from the studio. I really like the polished finish on the cord. Paul
  4. Finished another one yesterday. I always burn my brand as the very last thing I do. This is a three wine bottle carrier I make for a winery in the Napa Valley of California. They're rough and tumble type of bags, I leave my mistakes, I leave them without a finish. The brand is a U symbol that I burn into the leather three times to make my logo...MU...Maker Unknown. It's also a buddhist word standing for nothing, nothingness, formless. The bag is wet formed. The U heating up. Starting the process. The finished brand/logo. You're looking at it upside down here. The bag. More photos here http://cargocollecti...akerunknown/CPZ
  5. Sure, Western Storex Leathercraft in Burlingame, Ca. I believe his supply is fairly limited. http://www.westernstorex.com/
  6. Hello, Just joined here a couple days ago. I ordered some Barbour cord from an online source and not to throw stones into a still pond, I won't name whom. I arrives in a plastic bag with zero markings on it, no manufacturer, no label...nothing. Today I'm at a local leather place near San Francisco and I see a few rolls of Barbour cord. Bought one. I asked the owner of the place about Barbour and he was pretty mystified as to their whole story...maybe they were bought by somebody, maybe they're making polyester, maybe not. He was shrugging the whole time. This spool even had a little Barbour sticker inside the cardboard inner tube.
  7. So there are two of us in SF....alright!
  8. Hi everybody, Wanted to introduce myself in case I ever get up the nerve to post up something I make. I live in SF and have been an advertising photographer specializing in wine and food. I also make furniture when the photo side of the business is slow. http://cargocollecti...om/makerunknown Paul
