  1. For two years I worked in the repair and restoration of library materials which included very old leather bindings and this is where I received the advice about veg. oil. Have you ever used Dubbin on your used saddles?

Never heard of Dubbin. I had been using Lexol on old saddles but switched to "Leather Thearpy". I can see Veg oil going bad in a climate control room. Out doors the leathers dries out and you have to keep re-applying the veg oil to keep it in. I do not use veg oil on old saddles because it darkens the leather to much.

  2. Make sure you use buff rough out leather. The stamping will stand out a whole lot nicer than nappy leather. Make sure that you case the leather well. If it is to wet the image of the stamp work will show on the other side. Here is an example of a pair of rough out fenders that was stamped.

  3. This is a Leather Drop Bag. The company will fill this with 30 lb of steel shot and lift it up and drop it on a sheet of plywood to test the strength of the plywood. I make about one of these a year. One picture of how I sew the bottom in and the other picture of with the solid plug in place.

  4. Is that first picture what he sent you? I don't know JACK about saddles and I could have done better than that the day I started working hides. Hell, my daughter could do a better job. The guy is clearly clueless and wants you to cover his name for free. I'll guarantee that he's telling everyone the one you sent him was his work, regardless of what he tells you.

Believe me, my name isn't anywhere on that saddle. Didn't want anyone to know that I built it.

  5. I have been looking for a few years trying to see if someone else has this tool, but haven't found anyone. Wilford Lewis got this from his father when he was young. Will died almost 10 years ago when he was 82. I use this tooling as my signature tooling since I seem to be the only one who can do it.

  6. PcCowboy,

What does your stamp look like? I picked up one a while back of a pineapple. I know it used to be a sign of good luck or whatever, but it is pretty strange

Here is a picture of the tooling

What do you know. I was wrong about the company Must have been thinking about the company I was looking for who made some conchos I wanted to find. The name on the stamp is: F. K. R. MCH. CO. Dallas TX.

  7. Block it if you have call screen. Which most cell providers don't have/provide.

Might be best to contact your carrier for options. If you dial *611 from your device that should link you to your provider free of charge. (Does here in Canada)

    Kevin

there is no number to block, it's just "unknown" Also Virgin Mobile doesn't give you the option to block calls

  8. Yesterday I recieved 3 phone calls on my business cell phone with the caller ID of "Unknown" When I answered there is no one there but country and western music playing in the background. So I stopped answering the phone since I only have 300 min a month. Got up this morning and there were 11 voice messages in 30 mins from this person all with just the music. Today he has started it again with 6 calls. What can I do about this?
