  1. That is awesome! I like how that looks. Is the elephant hide different to work with than say veg tan? If it is different, in what ways is it different? I've never done anything different than cow hide.
  2. Looks really good and the only critique I have is the same as Bruce H. That would add that final touch needed to make it really shine.
  3. That is awesome looking. I like it a lot. May I ask why you finished the edges on the gussets but did not finish/dye the edges on the flap? Was that the look you were going for?
  4. I like using Wyo Sheen which you can get from Sheridan Leather. Like everybody else said, apply 1-2 coats and let it dry really well. I let mine dry over night. Then I use an antique dye. I like Fiebing's antique paste. It gets in the cuts, tooling, and grooves very nicely. It also comes off the raised edges well. I've attached a picture of a wallet I just did with Fiebing's mahogany antique paste.
  5. That's awesome. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your project as you moved along with it!
  6. Beautiful wallet! Nice clean work. The stitching is awesome. Great work.
  7. Woohoo! I've been out looking before for finds like that and so far I've come up empty handed. I will keep looking though!
  8. Wow! That is nicely done. The only thing I would suggest is to dead end your lines at the edge of your makers stamp. Don't have the lines go through the makers stamp. Overall, nicely done. Great work!
  9. Nicely done. That silver buckle definitely complements the brown belt and makes it stand out.
  10. Huns, that is awesome! Great work! Thanks for sharing your in progress photos too.
  11. Those are awesome. Nicely done. I was just asked to make some of these for some of my dad's coworkers for their fire department. Yay for new projects!
  12. That is awesome! Great job all around! I really like it!
  13. I had the exact same problem. Definitely not a fan of Edge Kote. Now I use Fiebings USMC black dye. I dye first then follow the rest of Bob's (hidepounder) directions on dyeing. I finish by applying Tan Kote and then Wyosheen. I have not had any rubbing off since I have switched to this method. Hope that helps.
  14. I just started using WyoSheen (old version of Neat Lac) and I am very pleased with it. I put on Tan Kote first followed by the WyoSheen. It seems to keep the leather softer and it also gives more of a water resistant to the leather.
  15. Awesome work Josh! This is the kind of stuff I hope to be making someday!
  16. Wow! Very impressive! Lots of detail and it flows nicely!
