Beautiful work! How does that skirting leather compare to their tooling leather? -
Why Is There So Many Boss's For Sale?
Jeff L replied to joeyrsmith's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
The Boss can be a temperamental gal from time to time. Mostly always a tension issue from operator error Keep her well lubed and talk dirty to her once in awhile and she'll treat you right. -

Dye Test With A Commander Owb
Jeff L replied to Colt Hammerless's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Very nice Paul. Thanks for sharing. I have used the Angelus jet black and I really liked it. Do you cut the 600 for dipping? -
By far the ugliest holster that I have seen posted on here.

Last time I ordered from the Bluegun store (October) my back ordered stuff was here in about a week. A few months before that there was a very long wait due to rings being overloaded.

A Couple Of Recent Builds
Jeff L replied to Ran's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Very nice Ran. Snow on the wood pile already I see. -
Seeing as you are using a cocobolo burnisher like I do I will share my 2 cents worth. After sanding edges smooth with 220 or higher I use saddle soap on the edges then burnish with the cocobolo thingy on a dremel I use it about 10,000 rpm. I then rub on a mix of 50/50 beeswax and parrafin that I melted together and formed in ice cube trays. Then go over it again with the burnisher. Heat is the key. You want to produce enough heat from the friction to melt in the waxes into the edges. Simple, and quick.

1St Duty Style Holster
Jeff L replied to George B's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
That is really sweet. Nice and clean. How much did W&C charge for shipping on that leather? I was quoted $40-$50 shipping to Arizona... I would love to try their leather but no way am I paying that much to ship it. -

Thumb Break Question
Jeff L replied to paris3200's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Rob even has some nice stainless one too... The only advice that I can offer is make that strap TIGHT... You can stretch that strap a little bit if it is too tight... If it's too loose... It goes in the scrap box. -
Thanks Joe for the reply. Never tried Etsy. I will look into that.

I see that a few of you on here have different apps used for creating an online store on your FB page. What are the good ones? which ones to stay away from? any simple tutorials? etc.

Is the a good contact cement/ glue for leather that does not have the over powering fumes of products like weldwood etc? Winter is coming soon (even here in the desert) and the garage door will have to stay closed most of the time. I also use a propane space heater to take the chill out and I really don't want brain damaging, flammable fumes in a enclosed space.

Best tool I have is a 12 ton shop press from harbor freight... Sandwich the gun and wet holster between a dense foam and some plywood and crank it down.

Katsass is spot on (as usual)... Nothing drives me crazier than seeing a mag release button covered!

Just placed an order from Rob at the Blue gun store this morning. No problems here, but here is his number 704-762-1614

Concealed Carry Ruger Vaquero
Jeff L replied to Red Cent's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Your Killing me. How old are those? They don't make the 3 screws anymore do they? I have a matching set of Vaqueros on my Christmas list... And I have been a very good boy this year. -
Concealed Carry Ruger Vaquero
Jeff L replied to Red Cent's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
What a beautiful gun! The holster is nice but I would never conceal a beauty like that...
