Thanks everyone! How do you get rid of the dimples? Does this mean the needle is dull?

Hello to all, I just got my 1541 setup yesterday. This is my first time ever owning and using a sewing machine. I was playing around with a cut up old wallet today to see if I could keep straight on lines and turn corners. Not really sure if I have my tension setup properly or not. I am using #69 Nylon w\18 diamond point. Here is the top stitch which I am fairly happy with: Here is the bottom: Not sure if you can see it but the bottom thread feels very high and not sunken down in the leather like the top stitch. Maybe this is normal??? Here is another side on the leather of the bottom stitch. This one does not seem as high. Any experience and helpful hints is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Chris

I am pretty sure that I am going to do most of main leatherwork in my basement which can get real humid in the summer. For anyone that works or has a workshop in a very humid enviroment how do these sewing machines hold up to these conditions? Do you have any rusting issues? I would think that most of that industrial sewing machinery is built to withstand very humid conditions like cotton mills. Thanks for any input! Chris

Just wanting to say hello. Joined up about a year ago and just have not had much time for any hobbies as work has been very busy. I am hoping to get started into making some wallets and other small goods. Look forward to spending more time here! Chris
