  1. Very very cool. I have wanted to try this but prob never will. Seems like $22+ a foot is a lot even for such a unique item.
  2. How bout this one from one of our own. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20414&hl=
  3. Nice but what did you do to protect the paint from the back of those rivets?
  4. Very very informative. Now I'll need to try to envision which dimensions will change as i go. Thank you.
  5. I have read a lot about swivel knives and am working on making a couple. I don't know what size the commercially made units come in as nobody seems to list this dimension. --How small of a body diameter would still be feasible for use? Say 3/8th diameter. I'm thinking of using more like a pen. --Are there different blade profiles that may be suited to leather. There seems to be a small amount of blade profiles on the market. --Is it better to have a swiveling blade or is the traditional swiveling body better? I have seen both.
  6. I was hoping there was maybe a formula I could apply to up size each piece. would it work to increase each piece say 30% and everything still fit together properly?
  7. I have this beautiful jacket i picked up at a yard sale for a buddy that was way too small for me. looks like a German style (think Hogans Heroes), very one of a kind and beautiful. Thanks to his lovely wife slicing it up with a razor I can disassemble it for a pattern. How would I go about using as a pattern and making larger to fit me? it is a Large and I'm more like a 2X. I don't even know where to begin, except taking stitches apart.
  8. Seems a double end would be much more limiting than a single hole based solely on size. That would be a trick to find in the size you need. Maybe make one? What size do you need?
  9. I just wanted to make a proper intro. I'm a tool geek from way back. I found this site through knife making and have already learned a lot in the short time i've been lurking. There are some amazing craftsmen and women here and I hope to join those ranks. I have started making a few tools and will post at some point. Thanks. Joe
  10. Mechanic sockets of the right size would make great punches as these are already hardened. Just be careful not to overheat thereby destroying the temper. I actually plan on making some of these on the lathe once I'm back on my feet. Now that I think of it i could make some to sell very very cheap. Especially the bigger sizes that would normally cost a fortune.
