Pancake Sheath For A Leatherman
krappstein replied to krappstein's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Same here, Stu, but I think with this one I'm overcoming that feeling. Thank you all. Juan -
A friction pancake sheath for a Leatherman Blast. Made of 2,5 mm veg tan, dyed with vinegaroon and hand stuffed with a mix of tallow, beeswax and extra virgin olive oil. Front piece was moulded on the multitool and it's my first attempt at boning. It has great retention. I tried turning it upside down and shaking it, won't come off even though it's quite heavy (6,9 oz. / 196 g). On the belt. Also, a couple pictures of the process. Had to scrap that one. The bottom was too narrow. Cheers

So... I've been lurking the forum for a year and I thought I could show a couple of pieces I'm not that embarrassed of. First off, a moulded belt pouch for a Victorinox Spartan (a Tinker would also fit). Made a mess when turning the pigskin lining on the front piece. Should have known better, I *do* have roll of waxed paper somewhere around. Stiching is 5 mm (5 SPI) twisted nylon thread. Leather is 2.5 (6 oz) veg tan dyed with vinegaroon and stuffed with warm dubbin. Sam Browne stud is a bit large for that thickness, but it's the only size I could get. Since I don't have a maker's mark I decided to stamp my initials on the belt loop with some alphabet stamps I had lying around. Next is a small notebook holder made out of chrome tan scraps an acquaintance gave me a while ago. It holds a 65 mm x 105 mm pocket notebook. Front flap has a strip for holding cards, tickets, and other odds and ends. Stitching is 3.5 mm (7 SPI). Pen not included.

I assume it just makes more sense in the context of the 'V for Victory' campaign during the War. He might as well have meant "Two stouts, please". We'll ask sharkeyfinn when he comes back (and sees we hijacked his thread).

IIRC he meant the 'V for Victory', but inadvertently made the palm-inwards defying/insulting gesture. Gotta love that picture. Regarding fetish gear, sharkeyfinn, you should browse the Adult section of the forum: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7700

You're welcome, Doug. It's about 2,5 mm (6 or 7 oz) veg tan, cased then bent for a better fitting. Got the idea from Nigel Armitage (hope he doesn't mind). His seem whipped with electrician's tape. Juan

Hi, Doug I'm currently hosting my pictures at photobucket.com As for the leather covers, if replacing them is a concern, an alternative to gluing may be whipping them with cord. The common whipping: http://www.animatedknots.com/commonwhipping/ Cheers Juan

How to make Grey Dye
krappstein replied to tat2's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
Hi, Doc. Was the steel wool clean, no oils on it? It also doesn't just happen overnight, you have to let it sit for a while. Check this thread: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=14946&hl= -
Thanks for the link. Juan

Hi, Brian. What are those books by Enrique you are talking about, if you don't mind me asking? I have seen his work in another forum but I didn't know he wrote on the subject. Juan

Bag (Primate).
krappstein replied to Samar's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice work. Very vivid. Creepy as hell, though. Juan E.T.A.: I just saw a few of your other works in your gallery. They're awesome. There's that 'organic' feel to them, and a somewhat disturbing imagery. Kind of reminds me of Giger and Luis Royo's women. -
Leather Tray For My Friend
krappstein replied to hunio's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I think it's because they're actually two pieces stitched back to back (or flesh to flesh). Notice that both the interior and exterior of the tray are grain sides, and the bottom part of the male snap is not visible. Cheers Juan
