Hi capel manor college has a city and guilds saddlery course that will provide you with a lot of skills no apprenticeship though or the British army have an apprentice saddlery post https://www.army.mod.uk/rolefinder/role/195/saddler only really relevant if your willing to join the army.

Hey thanks I was really pleased with the waves I think I'm going to use them on the next hanbag I make.
-
Recently finished a Norse style helm using a crystal anvil pattern. Did some wave tooling on the helm inspired from the 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' its a Japanese art work but I like the wave design so rule of cool instead of historical. I think it turned out nicely although the center struts could be smoother. I posted it on the crystal anvil facebook page and Alex the author offered some good advice on how to smooth the ruckels.

Cheers mate, I'm really happy how it turned out. Just had a little dye bleed through the latex I was using for blocker on one of the figures.

Hi Mate thanks, without going into to too long an explaination I run a kids live action role play club in a disused World War Two bunker that we set to look like a dungeon its a lot like a theatre set so bits can be changed and moved about. The kids are armed with foam weapons and sent off on adventures were they encounter different kinds of monsters (adults dressed up) and logic puzzles. On one of these adventures the kids were sent to a mine because a golem had malfunctioned and started attacking people. They had to disable the golem by attacking it then program in a set path to return it to an area were it could be fixed. This required the kids to mix different potions and put it into the bottle then attaché it to the golems head tube. I can't rember exactly but I think there was three potions (water with food colouring in it in real life) red, blue and yellow. One was forwards one step, one was turn right, and one was turn left the kids had to pour 5ml of each in for each command. When the bottle was screwed in the golem would follow the pre-programmed path then stop and then the kids would re-program the golem again until they reached the required destination.

Hi Sorry for the photos (taken on a camera phone, hangs head in shame lol) here is a helmet I've been working on for a while. Had a lot of trail and error go into it as it is the first helmet I've made. It has seen a bit of use since I made it so it has been knocked about a bit. Here it is with the other pieces I have made for the the costume.

Here is a diary cover I have been working on. It has a phoenix head on the front and a phoenix tail design on the back.

Hi MojoGeorge, thanks they are getting a lot of use in our larp club adventures.

I made a bottom and connected it with lace. I liked the end result so I made a batch. I need to do some thing with the plastic tops eventually but these were made after some glass potion bottles were smashed and I needed them for the weekend so I'm pretty happy with them.
-
I had to produce a set of potion bottles quickly so decided to use some plastic bottles as the base and to cover them in leather. I made a card board pattern for the base and wrapped paper round the top of the bottle cutting it down to the correct size. I used the shapes I made as the pattern. Drew round them and cut the leather out Checked it fit snug. Did some tooling and antiqueing Attached the pieces together with some lace and realized I hadn't cut a piece to cover the bottom!

Hi guys, thanks. Now that you say it Von Tannin because the right gauntlet ends in a fluted panel it does remind me of an uruk-hai head piece!</p>

Hi, my first post hello every one. Had a great time making these its the first time I've sewn an inlay onto the back side of all the straps and main pieces of a gauntlet. For the comfort of the hand it was well worth the extra time and effort. Had a problem during dyeing with my blocker failing to prevent the leather taking in dye on some areas of the cogs but not enough to spoil the piece. I made the pattern off a picture I found off the internet. Thanks for looking, comments and criticism welcome. -Jack
