  1. That's it Bruce. Here in Brazil this is also known as shoemaker stich (in portuguese "Costura de Sapateiro). I do the way you describe. So, maybe it is a matter of pratice to do a fine job... Tomorrow, I'll spend the day training in scraps of leather, before the real one. Thanks !!
  2. Hi. What's the best way to do the hide stich ? I need to do a sheath for a dagger, using this type of stich, but I never get a even finish using this kind of sew. Thanks

  4. Hi, I receive a request for a holster for a Ruger Super Redhawk (7"1/2 barrel). I have some patterns, but not for this gun. I'd like to know what guns are compatible, or ... if someone has a pattern, it could be very helpful. Thanks !!

  8. Thanks for information ! Until now, I made some western period insipired holsters (I'll post some photos later), but I want to make some "modern" (Bianchi style) hoslters and I think it is more complicated. I'll buy these books, thank you very much guys !! And about this book ? It seems to be a good source of information about carrying, ergonomy, etc http://www.amazon.com/Holsters-Combat-Conc...3508&sr=1-2

  11. This topic will be VERY useful for me. Here in Brazil there is no factory that made this tools. I boght mine from Tandy, and, besides these tools are not very expensive, adding the shipping, the taxes etc, the final cost goes to the space !!!
  12. I bought the basic tool set from Tandy and two basketwave stamps. I made a smaller beveler from a nail. What are godd tools to buy next ? Thanks !!!!!!!!
  13. Hi, I never can achieve an even finish with my dyes. Here, there is only one good option of dye, an alchool based dye called Enigma. I tried various ways, using a sponge, a pice of wool, diping the piece... Th best result I can get is diluting the dye in alchool (1:1 or even more...) and apliyng various light layers with a soft paintbrush, but I'm not satisfied. Any suggestions are very welcome, its drives me crazy.
  14. Thank you Ken. I'm thinking to do something like this tool using a large nail, flatening and sharpening the tip.
  15. Another silly question, I'm sorry.... What's the best tool to make the slits to do lacing ? I'm using an awl, but it's not wide enough and I didn't find another to buy. Here we don't have a wide range of tools, so most of them are home made. I plan to use a lace that is 1/8" wide. Thanks !!
  16. Hi !!! A have a problem with the veg tan leather. Some of these, rusts a lot the blades of the knives I made the sheaths. What do you use to prevent corrosion ? I do my sheaths unlining. Thanks !!

  19. Wow !!! Very, very nice work !!!
  20. Rayban, I'll seriously consider your comment. I agree with you. Many people told me to buy a sewing machine, but I prefer to do by hand, simply because... I like it, and I do some fancy stiches too. But, like you said.... In the other side of the coin..... The customers always wants to receive the itens.... yesterday !!!! Century way, unfortunately. I guess we need to fight this "century way"
