  1. Yeah the more I think about it I think double loop is going to be better. The one I'm working on right now I'm going to use double loop.
  2. DoubleC...just looked again at the wolf...I ain't getting a good impression for some reason...I think it's the press because I know with my pow/mia stamp I can't use the press.
  3. DoubleC...that wolf stamp...I think it was because the stain didn't get all in it...I'm not sure what you mean about the bike...main thing I see is inside the tires...could you be more specific. This is the first time for using pigskin liner so I have allot to learn about working with it.
  4. Eternoui actually I'm not sure the thickness...it is the standard waxed thread Tandy sells...my wife went and got it and that's what they sold her.
  5. I broke down and bought some liner material. Made this for a customer and now they decided they want a different design. Oh well..I will sell this one. They wanted a Roper wallet with a snap...easy alteration.
  6. OK that is a poly cutting board I have got (it is plastic to me lol). I picked it up for a few dollars and use it for some of my finer cutting. I will have to try it to pound on.
  7. I am using a pound board my grandfather bought in the fifty's. Well, it definitely seen better days. I was wondering, if anyone has any suggestions on an inexpensive board I could use. I have thought about a plastic cutting board or a piece of plywood but haven't tried them yet.
  8. Patience is a big factor. That is an issue for me...lol. The main things I find is to make sure you are calm and comfortable. I start getting agitated I pull out my grandpa's pipe and smoke a bowl (regular tobacco lol) because he was the biggest influence for me to pick leather up 30 yrs ago.
  9. Don't look bad for your first. Nice looking knife also. Now, there are others here that can give allot of advice (they have have helped me allot and I have been doing this off and on for 30 years) so I am sure people will tell you things to do. It would be to your advantage to listen. My piece of advice is to make sure your stamping is straight and even. There are quite a few ways to hide most mistakes but if your stamping is way off then it is very noticeable. And welcome to the leather addiction...lol.
  10. Thank you. I thought about continuing stitching but didn't do it. Looking now that would improve it. Next one I will try beveling the edges and see how that looks. Waiting for some liner material because I have orders for a roper wallet and a biker wallet and that should be here within a few days.
  11. I took some advice about this wallet last time I posted one so I have made another one.
  12. What I'm proud of is that an 11 yr old did that and my dad thought enough of it to keep it 30 yrs. I would have to say I had a good mentor for leather...my grandpa.

My knife did slip but there was imperfections also. Good idea about wet forming but I don't know if I'll do another...it depends on what kind of response I get from my customers.
  14. Being memorial day weekend and five years since I lost my dad, I thought I would share would share this piece. My dad was a 23 year army Vietnam vet and his CB handle was skyhawk. I made this for him 30 years ago when I was 11.
  15. While waiting to get my new business cards in I decided to make me a new holder for them. I messed up on the lining but it was late, its for my personal use, and it was near the end so I left it. In the third picture you can see the mistake.
  16. Lol...I didn't figure it was a new thing. I do bevel before I go over with the spoon with also hides the mistakes...lol
  17. The tool I use is a dremel...I got some old drawer knobs and drilled a hole in the center to put on the dremel. Works good to smooth the edges to a glass like edge.
  18. Thinking about it now you are right about sewing it in even as an after thought...drill press is a good idea but currently mine is in storage.
  19. I noticed that about the coin pocket...I'm going to change the pattern...any suggestions would help. I agree about the inside needing to be thinner but that what I had at the time...thinner would be easier to work with though. The window does have plastic in it even though you can't tell in the pics. What would you recommend to use on there when I burnish? I just use water and they get smooth but not distinct.
  20. The reason for the rivets was the flap was an after thought...lol. I get shaky punching the holes thanks to arthritis. And I did burnish but I need to start using an oil or something to make it more distinct.
  21. Thank you...another problem I've ran into is I could only find the nonslip so I have to grind that off.
