I had found on pintrest (I think) awhile back a home made tool holder. I made me one and it works good. Visit thrift store (where I found mine) or yard sale and get an old knife block. on the long flat side lay out how you want your tools in there, mark the locations, and drill the holes.

Awhile back I posted on a thread where someone was looking for a stitching pony. I had posted the instructions for making one. I had made one about 8 months ago but recently I am using it more as I'm trying to get my business going. I thought I would share that again as I am finding out how useful a pony is and I am always looking to save money. Now, the measurements are in metric so I had to convert mine to english. I hope this is useful. The picture of the finished one with a wallet is the one I made. Leather Stitching pony.rtf

I just completed another koozie for the commander of our vet groups wife. I have also included pics of when I was tooling and before I sewed it. I got one of the letters off but when I rolled it up to sew it it came out looking right.

This is a really good idea. Also, I will take and (if I'm not concerned about exactly duplicating it) drawing out my own pattern.

Koozie

Thank you...about the strip it's a matter of opinion. I like it and have had others liked it while I've had other's say they didn't. -
I am the kind I look for deals. I have gotten some items from ebay and that is what this post is about. I hope everyone here has at least a general idea of prices because I have noticed that people on ebay are paying $50+shipping for an item that you can get new from tandy for $10. I just have to shake my head and wonder why. Some people on ebay are marking their items "vintage" and that seems to raise the prices more. For one, unless you got the money to blow, why buy (so called) vintage? Allot of these tools are still being sold today new. I also see stuff marked vintage that you can tell isn't. Last I knew, a tool such as a stamp, doesn't gain value because of the age. Second, I for one love allot of the older tools, but compare prices with sites like tandy to see if it is a deal. I suppose what this post is mainly about is that allot of us do this as a hobby or it is how we make money. So I am suggesting if you find a 'deal', unless you know it is good, compare the prices to make sure.

I posted Sunday about a pattern of an image I wanted to carve for the vet group I am a member of. Fortunately tboyce saw that and he did the pattern (thank you). One thing I ended up changing was I had to take the Semper Fidelis off, which I didn't want to lose. I cut the leather to short for it and didn't want to waste it. Personally, I feel this came out good. If there are any suggestions, I always welcome them. Again, thank you tboyce.

Need Help With A Tooling Pattern
LoneWolf1973 replied to LoneWolf1973's topic in Patterns and Templates
The plastic image from office depot worked great except most of the ink came of as I was transferring (not on the leather luckily). -
Did another koozie. Got rid of the bottom I had on the last one.

Need Help With A Tooling Pattern
LoneWolf1973 replied to LoneWolf1973's topic in Patterns and Templates
I will post the finished project. Took the pic to office depot and they put it on 8 1/2 x 11 plastic. If that works I've got a bunch of patterns I'm taking there. It was around 60 cents a copy. -
Need Help With A Tooling Pattern

Thank you...beautifully done -
If it is how I'm thinking. I bought something similar at harbor freight. It was a metal case I got. You might be able to go look at one to get ideas.

Need Help With A Tooling Pattern
LoneWolf1973 replied to LoneWolf1973's topic in Patterns and Templates
I was hoping you would see this post. I would of messaged you directly but wasn't sure how. I am thinking of carving it on approximately on a 10"x10" piece of leather. The lettering can be done with the 1/2 inch stamps if need be. The main part is the emblem. Thank you in advance. Not only do I appreciate what you do but I know allot of the others here appreciate it also. -
The vet group I'm a member of is getting ready to open the doors to our club house. I was wanting to make a picture for it. I was wondering if someone could make a tooling pattern for it. Attached is a picture of the back of my vest. The picture I am wanting is the POW/MIA emblem with the Semper Fidelis of America above it like the pic.

Very nice -
I just got back into leather a few years ago. When I did I bought a starter set from tandy. Last night was the first time I opened the book or watched the dvd that came with it. There is alot of useful information for beginners there.

what resource was the most help to you when you were new at this?
LoneWolf1973 replied to Johanna's topic in Resources
I would have to say the resource I learned from the most starting out as a kid was my grandpa...but since I got back into it a few years ago, I find leatherworker forums have been a big help. I have books both hard copy and digital but here has been a big help. -
I just get an idea...look for something similar...then use that to base a design off of...then get to work with pen and paper. I know this sounds like alot of work but I am the kind that enjoys the planning almost as much as the work.

Here is a cell phone case I threw together this weekend. -
I posted pics awhile ack of a purse I made for my oldest daughter. I just finished one for my teenage daughter. I know I got the lettering off...beer and stamping don't always mix (lol).

I had found one design which I made and it works wonderful. Sorry I don't have a pic of mine but in the process of moving. I did convert the instructions from metric to english. Leather Stitching pony.rtf

Purse
LoneWolf1973 replied to LoneWolf1973's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thank you... -
I made this purse for my daughter. I looked at different designs and made one of my own using some of the ideas. The only things I think I did wrong was on the card liner I got it alittle to large which threw it off and I feel I got the snap strap alittle big. I couldn't upload the pic of the card holder as the pic was to large.

Has Anyone Bought From Chinese Ebay Leathertool's Suppliers (Giantbo)
LoneWolf1973 replied to leetpuma's topic in Suppliers
I bought some bevelers. Cant remember which chinese company it was. They werent the best but they do the job on small projects. The problem with the ones I got is they are completely flat. They dont have actual grips which makes it difficult with my arthritis. I thought about adding grips to them but havent yet.
