Hi Bob. Looking good so far. Are you moulding the liner on the same mould as the outer? If you are the liner will never fit because of material thickness.

Hand stitching for me. Mainly because I want my products to be hand stitched.

Its such a shame the Tandy stamps are so poor. Especially since I only live about an hour from the uk store. As much as I would love to buy some Barry king tools I would have to pay 20% tax plus import duty when they arrived. Does anyone know a decent uk supplier?

I had a piece of 5mm scrap to play with.... Wow, heavier leather is much nicer to use!

Thank you for the tips colt, at the moment I just can't afford to get a piece of granite. Tboyce I took your advice.... I should of checked first... The tools that come with the kit are plated, it came off almost instantly & revealed a bronze colour....

Thank you for the feed back guys. I was wrong about the thickness, its 3/4 oz not 5/6oz. I shall take everything you said on board, I am a little nervous about cutting deeper though. The tools aren't the best quality, the swivel blade needed a lot of work until it felt nice going through the leather. Mostly though the oil marks are down to operater error. Personally I would use the safety beveler that Tandy sells. I'm sure the gurus on here would have better suggestions, some of pros would probably just use their round knife.

Just a suggestion... Buy some cheap rolling pins, saw in half and you 2 mallets for the price of one.

Hi cheryl . I used a goods Japan stitching chisel & I don't know what I did wrong to keep the holes open. Its 8 spi and I used 0.8mm white tiger thread. I'm guessing its either I punched too hard or its because I used super Sheene before stitching. Possibly it could be because the pro stain doesn't penetrate very deep. I don't think the holes are too big though because the needles where actually difficult to get through. I would never drill a hole for stitching... Surely that would weaken the leather? Also not a sewing machine in sight... I must be doing something wrong if my stitching looks machine done!

Hi biglew, Thank you for the videos but they are ones I've watched many many times & this definitely not my first project.... The stitching was straight until I burnished the edge but because I used the belly it kind of squished which I really wasn't expecting.

Hi guys. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a cheap tooling side from Tandy & a couple of eco flo pro water stains. This is the first time I've worked with unfinished leather & boy was it a steep learning curve! This is a purse/long wallet I made for my better half. I used the belly section... Won't do that again! Nicely done! I made my own too but it's not as nice your one..... I just used an old bed slat. It would be worth cementing some scrap leather to the Jaws.
