I just recalled...Cheryl has a son. I *think* his name is Michael, bit I have zero contact information

Sad news to hear. Though we had stopped talking, I always figured there would be time to restart the conversation...:(

Randi/Mike, her niece is the only family I know of.

  3. Hello, I'm trying to post some pics of a new holster I made. Can't seem to find out how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Method 1: click the paper clip icon at the bottom left of your text block, select the file (you may need to resize it), click open.  You should see a progress bar and 'uploading'.  Once that's complete, you need to click the " + " sign on the right side of the text box to add it to your post.

Method 2:  If you have the pic on an image hosting site (photobucket, dropbox, etc.) you can click the "link" button and copy/paste the url.

If you don't have a photo editing tool, check out IRFANVIEW. It was free the last time I checked and had a very simple UI to resize pics to several presets

  5. I line my collars with Napa leather ( glue and stitch).. And am wondering if I condition leather before dyeing it will the neatsfoot oil prevent the glue from sticking to the lining?

as long as you don't over oil (saturate) the vegtan, and give it sufficient time to evenly spread through the leather you should be fine. Also, only condition the grain side, not dip. Sage advice from this site: "Stop oiling about 3 coats before you think it has enough."

  6. I am running into an issue lately on my dog collars ( some not all) it seems when I use the Fiebings USMCblack dye, the leather cracks when I attach a bucke with rivets.

it would seem that the leather is pretty dry for that to happen. You might try 1. oiling before dyeing, and/or 2. conditioning the leather AFTER dyeing.

figure $1000 as a ballpark #. Or, awl and a pair of needles is under $20. Not trying to be funny or rude, but honest.

  13. Term 1: Edge burnishing. Term 2: Edge slicking. I give up, are they the same thing, or not?

    1. TwinOaks

      TwinOaks

To be followed by "edge finishing", which typically includes dyeing then sealing the edge
