First attempt at making a wallet. Learning as I go, made some mistakes, learned from each one. You know what they say, "he who makes no mistakes, usually makes nothing at all." -

Skiving knife I made with some scraps of walnut and maple. The blade is from a crosscut saw I have been cutting up for a few years. Works like a champ.-

The finished knife. The handle is Cherry I picked up at the Habitat ReStore, the pins are walnut. Rubbed it down with a little boiled linseed oil. The blade still needs some polishing. -

After trying to cut out a few leather projects, I figured out I needed something to cut curves better with more control. After looking at tons of knives on the net, I decided to make this one. The blade is from a old crosscut hand saw I've been cutting on for a few years. The top point is sharpened on both sides and cuts curves great on the pull stroke. The bottom of the knife cuts great on the straight cuts. The knife is more of replica of a french pattern knife. -
Just saying hi, beginner from Raleigh, NC. been a woodworker for years, enjoying learning to work with leather as a hobby. Started a few weeks ago.

This is a men's valet made from some scrap cherry and leather from one of the remnant leather bags from Tandy. -

This is a iphone holster I made from some leather scraps I had. This is the first leather project I've ever made, so be gentle. It has some flaws, I used a row of finishing nails to make a pricking iron. I have since purchased a pricking iron, it works so much better than the one I made. But mine did work..LOL.. -

Leather awl, I bought the blade at Tandy, the ferrule is a compression nut and the handle is some scrap maple I had in my scrap box. The box underneath is the leather top valet I made a few weeks ago. -
Great idea and great use of what's on hand.
