  1. What happens if you run it through beeswax block?
  2. Oh I've got a refund already. I actually tried it out with a motor and it stitched fine. Just no hand-pulling Obviously my experiences are tainted, but when comparing Juki 341 and the clone side by side, it's really apples and oranges in appearance and feel. However, in stitch comparison.. not so much!
  3. jimi: just went through your 335 post. Now that's impressive! Do you have a blog?
  4. Luckily the transport company will compensate. It appears a hole went through the outside plastic-carton-styrophome and onto the pulley. Doing a quick search, it seems like customs may poke holes for drug searches. I just wish the hole was poked into the body of the machine!
  5. "Great for firearms, weapons, dental and lab equipment, sewing machines and fishing reels" ...and it comes in pink! Thanks for the suggestions, mini ratchet with lots of bits worked out well.
  6. What's your preferred screwdrivers for machine maintenance? I have to replace a hook and base for a cylinder machine, and all my screwdrivers are too long to access the screws with enough clearance. I've seen right angle ratchet types and just using mini screwdrivers on youtube videos being used. For those that have been through a few, what did you settle on?
  7. Are direct drive (no separate motor) machines any good for leather work?
  8. Anyone have any info on this machine? Any manuals/parts list about?
  9. Turns out I need to replace the hook. The left screw of the pair on the hook is damaged and doesn't tighten/loosen anymore leave the bobbin thread tension too loose. Is it possible to change the hook only? Or do I need to order the hook & base? Cheers!
  10. Solved. For this version you need to hold P and +, and it's a completely different Parameter table to above e.g. P-07 exists in this one. Cheers Uwe anyway. I'm sure countless people on here owe you a few beers
  11. Thanks Uwe. Ok I tried P and S at the same time but it's still the flashing 0 (standby sign?). Any ideas?
  12. I have a servo motor with P S + - keys on it and want to reverse the direction of the motor. I read that holding - (down) button will take me to menu... That's not working. Any ideas? I feel like a safe cracker trying all combinations of these four buttons
  13. Thanks Uwe. I'll post up anything here if Seiko get back to me.
  14. Can anyone share a manual for a Seiko CW-8BV machine? I'm specifically unfamiliar with using the binding option. Cheers!
  15. “There are naive questions, tedious questions, ill-phrased questions, questions put after inadequate self-criticism. But every question is a cry to understand the world. There is no such thing as a dumb question.” -Carl Sagan "There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers" -Colin Powell
  16. What's the computer looking module do? On the right.
  17. Here's the 'auto oil' version. Anyone have any experiences with one? Opinions?
  18. What do you guys think about advertised 'auto oil' machines? From what I gather its a bed of oil at the bottom of the machine? So manual oil vs 'auto oil'.
  19. Thank you for all the advice. I appreciate it. Just out of interest for cylinder arm machine users, which table do you prefer using? Machine on edge of table or machine in the middle of table with a cut-out table? I'm now looking into Juki 1341.
  20. 1. I'd like to keep thread size small. For hand stitching I'm mainly using 0.6mm thread at 3mm stitch length. 2. Yes high production. 3. Thickest leather glued together around 6mm. I've been looking into pfaff 335. Any good alternatives?
  21. I'm looking to buy my first leather sewing machine to make small goods, bags, wallets etc. What should I be looking for? From some initial research keywords such as walking foot, cylinder-arm, servo motor, 135x17 needles popped up. Anything essential for leatherwork? I'm also willing to import the machine from China.
  22. Great work and pictures! I'm impressed by the stitching clamp leather piece too! How do the middle dividers attach to the main body? Also, where can I get the pen like awl from?
  23. Please check out his blog too: http://paulsellers.com/woodworking-blog/paul-sellers-blog/ It's fascinating to see him work with relatively cheap ebay tools. Yeah it seems that leather, wood and metal are interconnected. Something very special about working with hand tools.
  24. Thanks for the info guys. DavidL: The digital display one looks interesting! http://www.adece.eu/gb/tools.html Anyone have info/experience with these?
