Help! I have 3 tubs total of scrap leather I have accumulated over time. 1 tub oil tan, 1 tub veg, and 1 tub chrome tanned. I have drawn a blank on what to do with it, I don't like the idea of throwing any away if I don't have too. I just need ideas on simple easy projects that don't require much time that way I can continue with my normal day to day. Key fobs are the only thing I can think of right now, but it gets boring doing just those! The pieces range from the size of a standard rounded key fob, to a large journal. any advice would be appreciated in fact any projects are welcomed easy or hard, because I hope this post might help others who are in the same boat

im getting better on the Cobra, just learning how to properly adjust tension. I have been doing small projects so far, not ready to do holsters yet on it until I fix my practice habits. I keep practicing with things that involve straight line stitching. I plan to start a holster from my hand stitching days, hopefully I will be happy with the results:)

What kind of glue do you use! I have been using that EcoWeld, and it does not impress!

this is crazy, how a conversation evolves:) its something to think about! I love a good saddle stitch, but I worry now that I have this awesome machine, ill get lazy and start using it in place of hand stitching. I do feel that a saddle stitch is a more durable stitch, but do I need it for every sewing project, or when is it good practice to swap between the two? I've seen videos of people using both for the same type of projects, but is it a good thing or a bad, lazy thing? how do you know when to alternate? or if that's even wise? I bought this to save my fingers, but its hard to break away from hand stitching, with the worry that my product might fall apart. Am I crazy to think this? Please know that I understand (why buy if you don't need it?) , but I purchased this because I had the money. I didn't want to have to buy one down the road if I didn't have the money...

I did try the pulling apart bit, and the saddle stitch vs machine stitch. I found the saddle stitch was stronger but it had taken a lot of effort on both styles. either way ifound they both have there benefits to their application. thank you for the advice because, I feel confident about my options:)

Is there a way to achieve a strong stitch like a saddle stitch with this machine? A way to sew and still maintain a quality strength as you get with hand stitching? I heard a sewing machine can't give a quality stitch. Is this true? Or technique?

That is too true about the YouTube bit:) but you have to admit, they do satisfy the curiosity to the "what if I did" question. Last dying words a redneck says "Hay bubba check this sh@t out" at least now, thanks to YouTube our investments are safe and their investments are serving our purpose.

Thank you so much for the advice:) I stayed up last night just sewing and I'm actually getting used to the petals and the speed. I have a hard time using reverse, but I found a great video showing to take a square piece and just run along the borders, and at every turn back up 3 stitches and then forward. I've been practicing that last night:D You guys have given me a lot of great advice and I pray that I'll be able to pay it forward some day!

I just received my Cobra class 4:) never owned or even used a sewing machine before. its a challenge, but what I would like to know is, how do I make using this easier? I hand stitch everything, so when I received my tax return, I bought the cobra. no telling when an opportunity would allow me another chance, so I jumped. is there any advice on practices or even places that instruct on this matter:) I have tons of crap, and soon that will run out at the rate I'm going. I only ask, because I really don't want to learn poor habits, instead id like advice of some good habits to build on. Thank you:)

I see:) still you can't ignore the thought process in his mind of having this expensive "sewing machine" and thinking of grabbing the license plate off of whatever and sew. It's pretty cool to see, and I thank him for risking his investment to show the world how heavy duty these powerhouses are. I'm confident knowing if I feel incorporating a license plate into my work, I won't be limited:D

That is awesome and I can tell by the little I've experienced so far:) I've already started spreading the word and I haven't received the machine yet:) Thanks alot... now I can't wait till it comes in:D

I'm curious to know what possessed him to do it? "Hay I wonder if I can sew license plate with my $2500+ Machine?" LoL

Can't wait for this relief, I'm already lining up projects! Crazy note, I found a youtube video of a guy sewing a license plate with the Cobra 4:) Awesome stuff there!

This will be my first sewing machine ever:) I read up on here for weeks trying to figure out what machine would serve my needs and offer relief for my fingers! I considered the Tippmann Boss, and even went as far as putting it on lay-a-way. While I slowly made payments, I read up more and researched the Cowboy cb 3200/3500 models. I tried and tried to make contact but I can see they were really busy. So I started reading more and found out about Cobra Steve, and how knowledgeable, and friendly he is. He was able to help others with their problems, even towards machines they had bought from other dealers. So for kicks I called him thinking "Ok, I'm probably not going to get a response!" so was I wrong. He answered and I explained what I'm looking for and the budget I had, which was lower then their asking price for new machines. I told him that I can't afford a new one but maybe a used one. Sadly he had none to offer:( i felt a little defeated by now because after all my research I found the Boss was not the machine for me after all and now I felt stuck with it... A feeling everyone hates to have:( Then all of a sudden Steve made me an offer that was just too good to be true:) even so I had to call my wife (business partner) and tell her, she even thought it to be too good! So I called Steve and asked him question after question trying to find a lie or sign of a scam! Nothing... He was an great man and explain everything putting my worries and concerns to ease:) well to make a long story shorter, my Cobra will arrive soon and I canceled my lay-a-way with Tippmann:) Thank you Lord for guiding me to Cobra Steve:)
