I just finished this for a friend of mine. Veg-tan hand tooled and black pro dye, for the outside. the inside is lined with black pig suede, and the interior is black Winston calf skin. (All hand stitch - saddle stitch) Criticism is welcomed, I have no one to really judge my work! I have thick skin so no feelings hurt here

Another 4 slot wallet
DarkGoku replied to Stetson912's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice:) Really love your edges and the blue on the flesh side inner pocket! -
LOL Don't worry about that, we all started out doing exactly what you are doing. I know I did for years I know a guy who works out of a pop up trailer, and he makes some great pieces and does some wonderful tooling. I bet your work is really good despite the small space

Steampunk projects
DarkGoku replied to DarkGoku's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
actually ... its all leather except a couple rivets to hold strap pieces. I teach at my store and this was one of the classes I taught during the year and wanted to show you can achieve the same results using leather. It is leather cord I dry brushed over a latex mixed with black acrylic. Thank you and I'm happy to see you liked it . -
Hay, I did not know that I'm going to have to try that thank you

I use the open back they sell at Tandy's They are the smallest posts and when you use the Chicago screws it good to use lock tight on them so the screws don't back out.

What swivel knife blade are you using? I found a 1/8th ss blade at Tandy's for around $20 bucks! It did a great job in those tight spots, and even add a little enjoyment to miniature carving. I also used modeling spoons and tools for things like that. you can also check out Peter Main, he makes a great tool for tooling. hope I helped alittle

You guys are great thank you for the comments. I plan on being more active here so hopefully I will have more to show you -
Here are some of the steampunk items I taught for a class at Tandy Leather. It is a series where every month I do a new piece. It is a lot of fun and everything is made of leather, but a couple of rivets. hope you guys like them.

Help! Veg Tan Flesh Side Plagued With Fuzz
DarkGoku replied to howlback's topic in How Do I Do That?
I use 220 grit sandpaper, and work it going one direction. and once it is pretty uniform, wet it like you are about to tool it. take the grass burnisher and in the same direction work it down. you should have a prettier flesh side to work with. tan coat will seal it, so I would use it as the final step so its doesn't get on the grain side a block what ever sealer you use for it. -
