  1. Thanks Uwe. Not sure I'm ready to try tapping a machine yet.
  2. Hi Uwe Do you know if this (KB09 Adapter Bracket for Pfaff 335, 1245) will work with a Pfaff 145? I watched the video where you were installing it on a newer 335. I didn't see the same type of screw holes for the needle guard like were on the machine you were using in the video. Thx
  3. Thank you Uwe for your great videos. I learn so much by watching them.
  4. Thank you so much. Once I get her cleaned up (she's behind the Pfaff 145) I'll decide what size gauge set and be in touch. Maybe some day, I'll be in Toledo and will get a chance to see the showroom.
  5. Thanks Bob. Good to know Is this page 434 of the 1999 catalog that is on the Superior website? For some reason my surface doesn't open the pdf for that page very clearly. It's hard to read the sizes and numbers on the throat plates.
  6. Uwe thanks. I'm not ready to purch sets yet. Wanted to find out what fits it and is available. Thanks Bob. I haven't started refurbishing/cleaning her up yet, so I haven't taken off the current needles and chuck yet. Does anyone know if the gauge sets for other singer twin needle models or their clones fit the 138W101?
  7. Looking for gauge sets for a Singer 138W101 machine. When I search for them with 138W101 I'm not finding them. Does this model use gauge sets from other twin needle models either singer or singer clones? When I look at the 138W101 manual from the library of Superior Sewing Machine & Supply, it doesn't show the gauge set 7/8" that is currently on the machine. The machine, previously was used to put nylon webbing onto apparel. The 7/8" was sewing both edges of the webbing onto an article of clothing. This machine is silver.
  8. There are 2 tri-flow grease's listed on their website. Which one are you guys using? How long does it's stay on the gears, before you need to recoat? I stopped in an auto supply store and they recommended a heavy-duty grease, but the person helping said it may dry out after 5 or 6 months (that sounded a little strange. It had lithium and was a modern lubricant). Thank you for your help.
  9. I am looking for recommendations for grease for the gears under the 3 gearboxes on my Pfaff 145 that I am restoring. What I have found under the bottom two was probably the original, very petrified. I just took off the top gearbox, as I move through the machine. It wasn't as petrified, but it defiantly must be cleaned out and replaced. And yes I have a gallon of Lilly White Sewing Machine Oil for the oil ports. I saw where Uwe recommended tri-flow for the gears, but they make 2 kinds, and I watched the Consew 206 RB video. I would like to know why you use it, which version if the manufacturer makes several different greases, and where you have found it. I live in Central Indiana for reference. Thank you. I really appreciate all the time and effort so many of you put into answering questions and sharing your experiences and knowledge.
  10. thank you I try to search before I ask questions. I will now be searching via google or bing more specifically before posting questions that have already been answered. I really appreciate all the time and effort people put in to answer questions.
  11. thank you brmax. I was trying to search within leatherworker site itself specifically for the 153W101 and then wasn't directing google or bing specifically to leatherwork.net.
  12. I have the opportunity to purchase a Singer 138W101 at a decent price. I found a copy of a manual for this series of machines, but have not been able to find out much information with searching about this machine. Does anyone have knowledge or experience of this machine and what it is capable of doing? I would be using it to do handbags, totes, backpacks, etc. I would also like to use it for shaving kits made with 8-9 oz leather for the sides and bottom (skived) and chap leather.

  14. Thank you for sharing. I am viewing various designs for minimalist wallets/card holders for my daughter. She wants one with a coin pocket, since she doesn't like to carry a purse, just her cards, a few bills, and coins. I appreciate having a place to learn, and eventually share about leather working as I hone my skills in this wonderful medium.
