  1. Bruce Evans, what a craftsmanship you performance. I actually can nothing to sewing machines, but would like to send you this picture. Maybe this can be a to inspirere the skills you manage.
  2. So to people who don't know from where you are or been at the moment, are irrelevant people. I was actually not asking if is legal or not, for members to cover, from witch contry the work. This was all ready clear to me. I was asking of some ideas - based on reasoning - why someone disclose their locations. We are all learning something here - hopefully.
  3. @dikman I oncs again realize my poor English that leads to misunderstanding. My two last lines was meant as: can somebody explain to me, some reason why members hide (cover) their country/region.
  4. All most every one, on every different forum use nickname (at least the can). I can follow if someone don't wish to add their portrait to their profile. I understand members don't live their address and phone number to their profile (at least that attracts sales persons). But can somebody lightning me up a bit, why would it be wishful to cover your region or country ?
  5. @ dikman Treadle table. I have some old industrial sewing machines, all with motors. And I have a wich of one day having them working on treadle table. I last sommer bought a couple of old domestic home sewing machines on treadle stands, but the stands where not wide enough. Do you have possibility to measure between the legs on the treadle table of the 188K you came across ? I guess the distance perhaps will be more than 72 cm / 28 inches. If you dont have the time or it's geographic impossible, maybe you would send me a link to the salesman. Then I could contact him.
  6. Before polish your new machin - and especially the brass plate/type plate - find a good Thread count magnifier, and try to examine the brass(?)-riveting carefully. Also from the inside ? There are many tings in live you have to be watchful to. One of these is selsmen, especially those who try to make there living out there business/to pay their rent.
  7. Buying the 111W155 was absolutely the last machine for me. I knew I would be out of space. But when I saw this small elegant lady in corner of the old warehouse (witch now been changed and transformed to a building of small apartments) I couldn't leave her, knowing that she and the rest of the equipment of an 128 year proud leather facktery & tannery, are on its way to the junk yard. The new landlord have already, in the laste two weeks thrown away two machines and a strip 45K25 on a threadle-stand and a lot of accessories in production of horse harness, shoes ect . Ok, I got two small items also for free, a electric cisser (for fabrics) and the manuell driven winder (it's on the second attached thumbnails) By the way, I'm confused about what compound feed actually is. Do 111K155 or 16-188 have compound sytem or do both have ? Is the definisjon related to, if the needle is aktiv in feeding the leather or will a passive needle that just follow the leather draw by the upper and lower feed, all so be a compound system ? Owe, have you found out what needle system 16-188 use ? In the drawer of my machin is 5 different lengths of needle, the only common are at sewing in fabric. The needle placed at the 16-188 only tells the it size 22. Unfortunately my English is so poor and the quality of the manual the same, so I cannot guess the meaning.
  8. Oooe ya Uwe, You are nice chap. Helping the old ladies. But, congratulations with your new Singer.
  9. Uwe I cannot give you additio I formation about your new Siger. But what a coincidence. To week's ago I bought a 111w155 (price 160 $) no accessories and from the same owner I yesterday came home with a Singer 16-188. But it was not a gift, I'd paid 130 $ included some accessories,on a modern base installed with a clutch motor. Since I'm in need of space is still in the car. But from what I see of your pictures, both machines are the same. But yours have shiny painting, my is maby a newer machin. The painting is a little bit gray and dim. On the brass plates: 16-188 ! Do you really think that 16-188 is a better LEATHERmachin than 111W155 ? At the Christmas time I hope to free my car, then I can take better photos. But for now this two.
  10. @ silverbullet Another what ? Singer or maybe Adler ? Which class ? What price ? What equipment/accessories follows the machine ?
  11. Now I have a small feeling of hijacking this topic. But thanks to sandyt and constabulary. Before I take your invitation to help with me some equipment, fore the this machine. I have to travel to town and take a better look (shuttlerace, bobbin two of each). But I let you know.
  12. But what I would like to hear opinion about - since I don't have such machine and no experience to this monster - is it not recommending to sew with only one needle. Would it bee to much asymmetric pressure on the needlebar, for HEAVY sawing ? Or are this working horse machines made to mostly anything ?
  13. Does it mean you don't have this machin ? If you have the impression of these 2 dealers have accessories/spare parts to. It would be nice to have an URL adress or an email adress. edit: I think it handles 1" may 1 1/2". We have to wait on til the big guys enter the scene. They can tell.
  14. sandyt If it is your machine - or you want to purchase it - and therefore pursue to find accessories: bobbin, shuttles, feets, edge guides etc. Would you please keep us postet ? I recently find such a machine. But didn't purchase it yet.
  15. It might be a Adler 20-200 ? Ability to work whit 2 needles. Which means is have 2 shuttles.
  16. Thanks Constabulary . . . . . . as always you are well orientated in sewing-machines-world. (and from another thread) I didn't find your answer harsh. I was - as 80% of all others, who writes in here and want to hear of others experience, because they have just purchased or near to order a "new" machine - eager to find out how thick this machin chew. But as Aluminium Acres tell, his machin is now tune right, everything goes smoothly and sewing nice and fine. And this is maby the best aim, all over, instead of max. thickness of leather.
  17. AluminumAcres So nice for you. That you find the last step stone (a video) to solve your problems. Would it be hard for you to publish the video link.
  18. I'm sure you meant it well and I'm sure your answer is absolutely correct. But unfortunately I belong to the crowd, to whom the answer is like hieroglyphics. If I already have known the electricity-law (Ohm's law ?) My asking to you was superfluous. If you try to ask and at the same time give your electric-formula, to any women, you like, in any age and education, the next 10 years. You mabye end up that 1% or 2% know what you're talking about and are able to use the formula. Since I never have understand the principle of electric, I have many times, through the years, ask colleagues, neighbours and acquaintance : will it function if I do so (electricity), can I change this two and connect those instead of etc. And my experiences tells me, that lower than 50% of all men, no matter of age or any education, have no clue. Under condition I'm not a joker - your answer will reach less than 25% of all people in this world. Ergo more than 75% have no help from the answer. And I think it was not yout intention. If you don't feel I've been unfair. Would it be possible to answer yes or no (roughly yes or no), to my question about HP will change if a motor is in 110 V respective 220 V (same watts) ? My regards to you. It's respectful when people learn their lesson in schooldays and craftsmen without academic aptitude, can communicate.
  19. Thanks Constabulary for the answer. Sometimes it's easy for me to be carried awy of max. parameters. @Geneva Thanks for the link. Unfortunately these illustrations was the same poor quality. I'm think I will manage to thread the machin (if I purchase ?) but from the text (PDF) I more worried about several adjustment explained and supported by illustrations ? ? Well, well I'll se.
  20. northmountYour calculation - watts to HP - will it be the same, whenever we taking about 110 or 220 voltage ? I have an old Singer motor (on a heavy 45K25). Is it possible that these motors is constructed to be weird as 3-phase alternative 1-phase?
  21. @ Constabulary Do you success, and to how much do you increased your 111G156 to handle of thickness. If it at all was possible ?Do you, or anybody, know of a better copy of instructions to 111G156. The fig.'s are to difficult for me to see/understand and it's content. I'm looking at a specific 111G156 to a reasonable price, and have begun to study the instructions and functionality. And there are many new concepts to understand without knowing the ability/funktions.
  22. I wonder, are there anything, to sawing machines you don't know or can do.
  23. @ jimiWhat kind of mackinery/operating system is on the Adler 104. It has at part no. RT 27
