  1. I hope this is ok here. If not let me know. Thanks. I have a Simco mule/arabian trail saddle for sale. Very nice! Below is a pic or more info. Gotta get supper ready. Terry This is a nice looking saddle with some diamond tooling & high back 15" seat. It has a 4 " gullet and is stamped "Made by Simco Established 1933. I don't know that the saddle was made then but that's the company info. This has been used on mules and arabian horses too. Pics avail. upon request. $400. OBO Thanks.
  2. Well Bruce, I have a chance to get a landis and he said he might have an american you could get hold of. I think maybe the landis might be the best for what I do and mostly use. I only split heavier bridle leather. So now after reading this I am really confused. Lol.. Maybe I'd better have him see if those american flaws are in the one he mentioned. I am suppose to meet his son to get one tomorrow so time is a factor as far as information on these. Paul, I hope someone can anwser you here. I'm here asking for info myself.
  3. I have been trying to decide between the landis leather splitter model 30 and the american leather splitter? If I got an american brand I wondered if it'd be harder to sell than the landis if I decided later I didn't need it anymore. Plus what's the difference in these two? Thanks all!
  4. redding how about selling it to me then?? I don't need it JUST to split. I know I can just buy the thinned down leather but have alot of thicker bridle leather already. I want to split the leather, attach some small metal studs {2 pronged type} and glue it back together for horse tack, etc. I have other projects I need this for too. Thanks for the reply redding.
  5. Thanks bruce but I know there are working ones for less. I won't be needing it for anything that will wad up, just thicker stuff to split like bridle leather. Thankyou again, hearing everyone's advise helps.
  6. Thankyou for your reply shelly, but I am also concerned with price. I won't pay $900. for a splitter. I may call them and see. Thanks.
  7. Well Luke, I found one, but it's in Oregon. I'm abit nervous about paying someone like that as I normally pay with paypal and don't worry too much. Do you think I would be safe using just my credit card for this? It's a Landis P-30 in good condition. Is that a good model? The ones I have been seeing in person aren't this model. Thanks, all help is appreciated.
  8. Luke I got a reply from that place. Boy you're right!! Way high priced on things.
  9. I will Luke. I hope I see one there or somewhere before that, or I'll have to turn down a good sized order. I need this machine badly.
  10. Thanks Luke. I emailed them but most is more than I am willing to pay. If anyone else comes up with one Please let me know.
  11. I have to start slowing down when typing. In the subject line I mean Landis.
  12. I am looking for one of these. I want the one that you can dial in what amount you want to skive/split and hand crank it. There was one on ebay but I decided on it too late, it's gone. Thanks.
  13. When I got mine it came with table, motor, needles, free set-up (he lived close-by), and instructions but no manual. I recently got a manual. I paid $450. for all that. If you like it and it does what you need get it. Good price I'd say.
  14. Thanks twinoaks. Greg I just checked it out. That's just what I need. Now if my horse trailer would hurry and sell. That's one reason I'm selling it, I need the money for more productive things. I'm in Ohio. I wonder what the shipping would be?
  15. Living where I can drive there and pick things out in person I have an advantage. But as suggested, call them and let them know. They're very good about making things right with you. I have bought alot of leather from them and had no problems. I use alot of the english bridle leather. It's very nice.
  16. I am looking for a leather splitter like I saw in the weaver catalog. It splits 3oz.-14oz. leather. It's 8" wide blade splits the thickness of leather. You can dial it in where you want it and has a hand crank. It pretty pricey there. Is there any place else I could find one? Thanks. Terry
  17. You did a Great Job on those. I'm sure learning alot from this group. Those are well worth the price I'd say. Terry
  18. I had a thread here about the singer 108W I just got, needing any info on it but it's gone. I couldn't get in all of yesterday. Kept getting an error/failed notice. Does anyone know anything about these machines? Thankyou.

Oh nice work. By the way, how can I post pics?
  20. Hello David. Nice to meet you. I'm about 20 miles east of mansfield, not far from wooster. Jeromesville actually but we're out in the country, not in town. I think you're qiute aways from me. Too bad. I'd love to get some leather talk in person and see your shop.
  21. Thankyou Mike & Don. I just love doing leather work & it's great to find this place. Seems like heaven to me. Don you're in Germany? I am mostly German and my Grandmother came from Stutgart . I hope I can find the one main thing I need badly to make my wok really nice. One of the skiving machines, like the landis. I need to be able to split a thick piece {horse bridle, etc.}, add some short-pronger doodads, then glue it back together and sew the sides. Know what I mean? My problem is all the mouths I feed here. I never have enough money to get this. I have collected sewing machines and know how long this can take, to get things on my none budget. One of my machines is the singer 241-12. I Love it for many things.
  22. Thanks Tom. I've been looking around. Can't wait to spend more time here. It's getting abit late so am hittin the sack soon.

  24. Hello. I'm from Ohio and started doing leather work a few years ago. I have been a silversmith for some time before that. After I got back into horses I decided it'd be easier to be able to repair my own things and it just blossomed from there. I make dog collars {spike, regular, martingale, etc.}, horse tack, about whatever someone comes up with they want or I need. I recently made a wallet and am on the verge of crafting a few to sell. Doing all this is how I feed my animals, but all in all it's just fun! I'm thrilled to find this group. I haven't been able to find leather people anywhere. I look forward to sharing and picking up some tips. I also would like to have a different sewing machine. I saw in one of the posts about someone getting a Neely saddery machine. I too got one and now want to sell it and get something with a walking foot and maybe reverse, but wouldn't have to have. Anyone in Ohio and wanna trade?
